Railer Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Nice shots, I see they changed 231's LEDs the right way around before they let her out. Quote
hurricanemk1c Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Evening all, As mentioned earlier, 231 made it's first runs post overhaul yesterday (Tuesday) with a special down to Killarney. Whilst I was in college, I was able to get shots of it prior to departure from Heuston. Photos from the past two days also include the unusual appearance of an 071 class in the station stabling sidings (compared to the former Guinness yard) at Heuston. As always, click on any of the photos to view them full size Album link - Regards, Kieran Quote

jhb171achill Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 How come the black band is full body length? Is it not going to be the same as the others? Quote
GSR 800 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 How come the black band is full body length? Is it not going to be the same as the others? I don't think it's finished yet John, but I might be wrong. Could be an experiment.. Quote
hurricanemk1c Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 As far as I know it's a 'Common User' livery, allowing use on both Enterprise and Cork workings. It hasn't had an interor cab overhaul;, however (from reading driver comments) Quote
hurricanemk1c Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Evening all, A few photos from tonight's commute home, including the sight of the RPSI Diesels together for the first time. Click on the photo below to view them all Album link - Regards, Kieran Quote
Railer Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 All the RPSI BGMs getting ready for the move to Connolly. The shed is going to be cosy with 4, 461, 134, 141 and 175 all living in there. Quote
GSR 800 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Will be good to see some Blackntans at Connolly again.. Quote
jhb171achill Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 461 is an anagram of 146. That's today's utterly useless piece of information. Quote
thewanderer Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 Evening folks, A few images from the past two days. Wednesday: I had a very short notice visit to the Kerry / Cork area for Wednesday and I decided to head somewhat earlier than required to get a few photos of the Weedspray train on the Tralee line. Well I arrived in Mallow to find out it was cancelled due to no driver. Balls. Should have detoured to Wexford after all! #winsomelosesome. So plan B was arranged with some photos in the surrounding Mallow area. Thursday: Some evening images from around the Killarney area. Click http://smu.gs/1Tv2zmh to view. Quote
jhb171achill Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 So 231 will have a new livery variation then. Those locos have had quite a few! Three varieties of orange, yellow and black, two 9three?) varieties of Enterprise initial livery, probably the same of the last one, and now two of the new one, as well as inter city green and grey! If this is a new "general purpose" livery, one wonders if all 201s in traffic will eventually wear it.....? Quote
thewanderer Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 Out of the current operational pool of 201's only 231 and 233 will wear this livery. All the current "Intercity" liveried locos 215 / 217 - 226 / 232 / 234 cannot work the Enterprise due to lack of AWS / TPWS / NIR Train Radio plus now the MMI (or whatever it is called these days) computer for the De-Dietrich stock since refurbishment. Quote
thewanderer Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Evening all, An early start this morning for a trip to Castleconnell to chase the Weedspray Train from Limerick to Portlaoise vis Nenagh.
