ttc0169
Evening lads-some engineering works took place over the weekend at the junction, this was to install a new crossover to provide more flexibility when overtaking other trains on the four track section, The previous left hand point wasn't a success as some trains were derailing when passing over it,so this time I installed a right hand point to connect with the other point which has worked well so far-here are a few photos of the engineering work.... Ballasting taking place with the excavator and tamper 751 starting work. Welding and tightening of the new crossover is taking place. The Perway gangs are hard at work. A 5 mph TSR is in place as loco 088 hauls a set of Cravens slowly past the worksite while the 29000 railcar awaits departure back to Central station. Kirley
What a great way to run a layout, to have a crew to do all the track work, can they do the dropper wires as well?

ttc0169
Evening lads, As its the time of year for the annual weed spraying train to tour if the IE system mine was given a brake test yesterday and was put out behind loco 083 tonight, The prototype train is in Claremorris this evening and its loco-083 went back light engine to Portlaoise this morning, I also seen that the 20'brown storage container on the rear of the real train has the end of the container painted yellow,so after a brief visit to Tara Junctions paint shop my train has received the same treatment.... 083 hauls the Weedspray train on its first spraying run,it would cover all four lines over the course of the evening-(a video is on YouTube showing some of the operations earlier) Two red tail lamps are now on the rear of the train along with the yellow painted container end. ttc0169
Thanks lads for all your comments On Tara junction earlier, loco 209 was due for an exam at the depot so after it hauled up the Enterprise to the platform it was uncoupled and replaced by 227,here are a selection of photos of the operation The shunter uncouples 209 from the Enterprise while 227 ticks over on the down line. 227 and 209. The shunter guides the driver of 227 slowly towards the Mk3 Enterprise van. And.....Clunk...the Dellner coupler of 227 couples the the EGV...and is checked by the shunter. 227 works the Enterprise for the first time this evening....a video will be posted shortly. ttc0169
Thanks Patrick, I've upgraded my phone so at last here is a video of some sound fitted locos on the Layout and 077 moving around the depot
ttc0169
Afternoon lads, after seeing gm171kks video of 209 on the DFDS liner (nice one Sean),it gave me an idea-so after a chat with the loco controller at Tara Jctns MPD, 209 was allocated to work the DFDS CPW liner and is seen here passing the Ammonia and bogie bulk cement. 209 passes 080 and 112. Another easily modelled train is the weekly Limerick-Inchicore wagon transfer which can have various types of wagons attached 077 is seen here hauling an ex works single bogie timber wagon on the transfer which is destined for the timber loading yard. 077 hauling wagon no'30540. gm171 kk
Thanks Noel, nice idea with the refurbished timber wagon too. I notice bits and pieces of the Westport rake have been repainted. Do you know if 209 will be back down to Waterford next week?

ttc0169
Evening lads, Thank you again for your comments about my layout, Over the last few weeks I've added another small section which had extended the Motive power depot, By accident I had left the tidy track wheel cleaner on the new section when I realised that I could actually fit the unit to the baseboard,so I cut out a section and put the wheel cleaner in... I added a siding to connect with the unit, With this added I have now my own"wheel lathe" just like Inchicore and I can now drive locos on to the"wheel lathe"and have cleaner wheels in the process..here are a few photos.... Loco 201 gets its wheels cleaned on the new wheel lathe. A closer view of loco 201 and the wheel lathe operator to the left of the picture. An aerial view of the wheel cleaner in action with the shed removed. And finally another view of the wheel cleaner with 201 and 8208 in the backround awaiting its next turn of duty.
