A good piece of design - single component forming the entire product. And easy to check if there's a rabbit stashed under there. Wasn’t that easy to find. Was waiting a few years before Conforama had them on sale, but I had known what I wanted, and that somebody would eventually sell something similar. It’s lasted a surprisingly long time, must be at least seven or eight years on the go, now. Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 One side well and truly scrubbed, one Kallax moved to a temporary home, apparently with the boss’s seal of approval, now onto the other side. 4 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 The stainless steel lips that we used to support the Kallax units on the walls did a stellar job. Scrubbed up almost like new, too, Both lower Kallax units removed and the corners scrubbed and bleached and scrubbed again. Off to IKEA Sur in the morning to collect the feet for the Kallax, then we get the big one off the wall, and then start slotting the Billy’s into place. Have a special parcel here from @murphaph that has been waiting for these units a long time! 3 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 The bases of the cubbyholes were in much worse condition than the ceilings, so I’ve flipped them to see if they last another few years. The management team seem to approve so far. 6 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Got to where I wanted to be yesterday, but shouldn’t have lifted that Kallax off the wall alone. Not sure what they weigh with the doors in, but it felt like lifting a person off the wall. I’m too old for that lark. Billy’s now need to be fixed to the wall and everything needs to be spaced out to de-clutter, but there’s no heavy lifting left for this weekend. 5 4 Quote

The Best Choose ones appear on eBay once a year or so, but usually stupid money. 3 Quote

You could buy three working, reliable cars for that. Maybe four a-tiny-bit-shite ones at a push. On 24/10/2024 at 10:43 AM, DJ Dangerous said: Care package received last Monday night... (That’s a mad amount of sausages, you’ll have a heart attack if you eat all them within less than a year-but in fairness I’d say we’re all as bad anyway) I do like the concept of a 'a-tiny-bit-shite' car! I've never had a car, but I live in the suburbs of a big city and I can get by without. It does place limitations on what I can do, but saves a huge amount of money which can be spent on toy trains instead. Though I don't have as much orange as DJD does, and mine are mostly stacked away in the 'cupboard of shame' rather than displayed. I tend to just display the stuff I've made myself. But I have to say that DJD's wall of display cases is mighty impressive! Maybe you need to get yourself written into DJD's will before the sausages get consumed? 1 2 Quote

Maybe four a-tiny-bit-shite ones at a push. And there's plenty of people into cars that would do just that ... The other thing to remember is that for most of us a collection like DJ's is collected over a long period of time. For the sake of argument, lets imagine that once you leave school and start working that you can save €500 per year to spend on models - thats not a small sum of money, but thats not a crazy amount either ... now imagine how big your collection will be once you reach DJ's age! 1 Quote
