  3. For those of you who have access to the IRRS photos on Flickr there is a great picture of 18828 a CIE H van one of the 18762-18861 batch built 1958 , 18828 was one of 15 fitted with vacuum brakes 1961/62 and pressed steel ends and sliding doors , a forerunner of the 1964 introduced Palvans 26000 but the dimenions are more similar to the standard H van , the 18762 series were painted green with flying snail black ends for their use on passanger trains , eventually they would be painted standard grey.

  8. Yes your probably correct but at the time there was a big imperative to keep the skilled workforce and craftsmen at Inchicore employed and where they could they built them in house , I think the E421's were the last locos built at Inchicore. I was talking to an electrician from Ballyfermot who worked in Inchicore in the 1960's when I asked him about them he remarked that "many holidays and home improvements were paid for with the overtime they got from building the E class" so the wider economy benefited too.
  9. When they are gone they are gone! Hurry up if you want one .

  11. There are many books published over the years with a plethora of middle of the road pictures of steam in Ireland they are great because of the rarity of the content with the odd gem in amongst the pictures , this book contains gems of the highest calibure on every page so if you think its too expensive then don't buy it , but if you do buy it you won't be disappointed.
  12. Received my first A class today dispatched yesterday and received from An Post this morning . The loco is simply stunning worth the wait of 3 years .
  13. I have just received a copy of this book and its a super publication worth the price the reproduction of the black and white images is suberb.
  14. No time for that you got to prep some A class for service on Tara Juction first!
  15. Any pics of it in the flesh or are your hands shaking too much to take a photo !
  16. The difference in delivery could be down to hours 24 maybe 48 after waiting 3 years you have to get things into perspective we could be pedantic but is it not worth it considering we have patiently waited this long . Too dispatch the orders in the way you suggest might involve re picking the orders and may inadvertently delay the deliveries overall .
  17. Well it will be an internet Auction too
