  1. Jayzus, @Noel, you made a right mess of that. The RPSI will never forgive you for rolling their good work back 50 years I have some IFM laminates and TPO as you know but I have been holding off on getting a large order of them in the hope that we might see some top quality ones emerge. Problem is now that the 121s and As will be available in early liveries, I'll need something in several different liveries silver, green BnT
  2. There's a nice photo of them brand new in CIE but for the life of me, I cannot lay my hands on it this minute EDIT: Actually this is the one is was looking for originally, not the same Bedford I know. BH91 Dublin registration dates it to 1969/70
  3. Sure, @hexagon789I understood that, you're comment is valid. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I agree it does look very different with the different lighting
  4. That's true and you're right. They only problem may be figuring out what that is insofar as on another thread at the moment someone is looking for a 071 motor replacement which seems to be a generic motor rather than a proprietary/bespoke MM motor but has nothing stamped on it to indicate who manufacturer is. The sugar cube as you say should be easier to source and easy enough to refit as the model ages. Incidentally where does one get them from?
  5. I didn't mean to restart the great orange debate as we've had in the past but the coach is indoors, and aside from camera/exposure/film/developing variations, if you look carefully above the cantrail you'll see the same colors from the perspex lighting in the roof
  6. The link would be helpful if you have it
  7. Of course the First class passengers will need some catering nearby
  8. Sad end to some of the horse boxes which survived to some use into IR times
  9. ok, this is from the last century but maybe more to your liking then ex-Platin c. 1999
  10. Uniload containers with a single CIE labelled 10' container in the background (c) Steve Parker Flickr 1981 Wexford
  11. I doubt they are bespoke motors and must look familiar to some of the scratch builders and kitbashers on the fora. Maybe there are alternatives that someone could suggest?
  12. D, Just to keep us on the topic of buses, I think the lads have been actually measuring these up before they do the CIE bulk cement hopper lorries
  13. It may be just a few isolated speakers rather than a systemic issue but the number of faulty units failing shortly after purchase (they're selling fairly rapidly) will dictate that. I think we'll know soon. That would be a better scenario than a slow but definite failing over time when out of warranty and hard to locate new replacements/ or replacement parts. I thought they had a sugar cube speaker but I 'm not sure if that is a particular brand or just a descriptive term for any small square speaker
  14. Seems to be an issue with some of the speaker units, which might be a problem as the locos sell out and replacements may not be available. Someone commented the reselling locos as new vs used on eBay or whatever. Problematic if its sold as new/unboxed and then has a faulty speaker when received by the next owner. I wonder how long spare will be available for these. The problem with the 141s being finding spare bags of bits with horns and all that as time passed.
  15. @Mayner Can I take 2 HLVs and 2 luggage vans if possible please?
  16. I have a feeling they did at least for locos but it's been so long I'm not sure about all. You'll need someone older and wiser @WRENNEIREis your resident expert on that question I would think
  17. I'm not surprised to hear about the load settings. It's an easier interface than messing about with CVs and trial and error. Set up your train and off you go.
  18. I believe the change in the tax rate was only 2% or something in which case 1 loco worth 200 would change by a maximum of 4 (this is just the simple math version) I think the issues with the A classes demonstrate that all manufacturers even those focussed on quality detail have design and production problems. There have been some problems with modifying the bubbles to 21mm and axles on the 42 flats, none of which seem to have lead to any issues with sales. Failing to recognize, admit to, correct or repeating the problem issue is IMO what determines how the product is received and perceptions of the manufacturer formed. Holding the product despite the delay is absolutely the way to go here. Outlining the issues that have occurred is laudable IMO. With out drawing comparisons, once the product is produced the is no going back and any deficiencies will be a lifelong criticism of an otherwise excellent product. Producing a first loco cannot be a simple task particularly for a fledgling company (no offense intended) versus large manufacturers with scores of surveyors, designers, and established relationships with manufacturers, whose role is predominantly to make the product you specify and not necessarily guide you making you railway model business or products a success. I'm confident these will be excellent locomotives and am happy to wait as I suspect are most or all. I was wondering how the Irish market would cope with a dozen 121s and even more A classes hitting the market at one time, so as Fran says it's not all bad. I agree but I hope they will not sell out quickly after release tbh. There's to be a C class announcement? I don't want to rain on the parade but I hope not (yet). Personally I think these are too similar to the A class and I'd prefer to see a railcar, steam loco, coaching stock etc first
  19. So is it the chip or the loco/speaker unit? Have you swapped the chips/locos to test?
  20. That makes sense. So the 121 and 141 would both be B class or BGMs with the same 567 engines. Love it!
  21. Amazing detail!
  22. Technically , I suppose they're both babies, maybe one is a newborn. I presume 'baby GM' found usage after the MM 071s or was the term in use for prototypical locos?
  23. Ah sure, you can live on the beach, You'll be fine, keep buying!
  24. Thirty days has September, April, June and November, all the rest ....... (was that the triple flat pack or did I miss something)
