Parts for Model Railway engines and coaches HO/OO
DiveController replied to Thomas's topic in General Chat
I doubt they are bespoke motors and must look familiar to some of the scratch builders and kitbashers on the fora. Maybe there are alternatives that someone could suggest? -
D, Just to keep us on the topic of buses, I think the lads have been actually measuring these up before they do the CIE bulk cement hopper lorries

It may be just a few isolated speakers rather than a systemic issue but the number of faulty units failing shortly after purchase (they're selling fairly rapidly) will dictate that. I think we'll know soon. That would be a better scenario than a slow but definite failing over time when out of warranty and hard to locate new replacements/ or replacement parts. I thought they had a sugar cube speaker but I 'm not sure if that is a particular brand or just a descriptive term for any small square speaker
-
Seems to be an issue with some of the speaker units, which might be a problem as the locos sell out and replacements may not be available. Someone commented the reselling locos as new vs used on eBay or whatever. Problematic if its sold as new/unboxed and then has a faulty speaker when received by the next owner. I wonder how long spare will be available for these. The problem with the 141s being finding spare bags of bits with horns and all that as time passed.

Hornby Catalogue Numbers on rolling stock

I have a feeling they did at least for locos but it's been so long I'm not sure about all. You'll need someone older and wiser @WRENNEIREis your resident expert on that question I would think -
I'm not surprised to hear about the load settings. It's an easier interface than messing about with CVs and trial and error. Set up your train and off you go.

I believe the change in the tax rate was only 2% or something in which case 1 loco worth 200 would change by a maximum of 4 (this is just the simple math version) I think the issues with the A classes demonstrate that all manufacturers even those focussed on quality detail have design and production problems. There have been some problems with modifying the bubbles to 21mm and axles on the 42 flats, none of which seem to have lead to any issues with sales. Failing to recognize, admit to, correct or repeating the problem issue is IMO what determines how the product is received and perceptions of the manufacturer formed. Holding the product despite the delay is absolutely the way to go here. Outlining the issues that have occurred is laudable IMO. With out drawing comparisons, once the product is produced the is no going back and any deficiencies will be a lifelong criticism of an otherwise excellent product. Producing a first loco cannot be a simple task particularly for a fledgling company (no offense intended) versus large manufacturers with scores of surveyors, designers, and established relationships with manufacturers, whose role is predominantly to make the product you specify and not necessarily guide you making you railway model business or products a success. I'm confident these will be excellent locomotives and am happy to wait as I suspect are most or all. I was wondering how the Irish market would cope with a dozen 121s and even more A classes hitting the market at one time, so as Fran says it's not all bad. I agree but I hope they will not sell out quickly after release tbh. There's to be a C class announcement? I don't want to rain on the parade but I hope not (yet). Personally I think these are too similar to the A class and I'd prefer to see a railcar, steam loco, coaching stock etc first

So is it the chip or the loco/speaker unit? Have you swapped the chips/locos to test?
-
That makes sense. So the 121 and 141 would both be B class or BGMs with the same 567 engines. Love it!

Amazing detail!

Technically , I suppose they're both babies, maybe one is a newborn. I presume 'baby GM' found usage after the MM 071s or was the term in use for prototypical locos?

Ah sure, you can live on the beach, You'll be fine, keep buying!

Thirty days has September, April, June and November, all the rest ....... (was that the triple flat pack or did I miss something)
-
I'd be much more interested in buses from the 60s. Recently, I ordered a triple pack of 42 flats and a weedsprayer (again for the differently numbered flats). Unfortunately when I did so the DCC chip in my unit seems to have malfunctioned, made a misinterpretion 'Link Buses 2 Rail', overrode my comments 2 posts ago, and RV517 and RV520 were loaded into my cart . OK, but that's definitely the last time for now ....

No, you're right the track centers would be the same but the distance travelled to traverse a turnout would indeed be longer and the tightest curves would have to be second, maybe third, radius although I'm thinking of using flexitrack so that I can have smoother transitions at entrance and exit to curves so that the rolling stock is not thrown suddenly from straight to full on curve which is not prototypical in the least

A lot of pennies will have to be saved, David, that's for sure. So far I only have the RPSI B134. The running is very impressive the only thing lacking is not the model itself but the track it is running in on. I'll have to wait a month or two as i made the mistake of ordering different liveries together but I'm happy just running B134 for now. I have been contemplating a new layout for some time and luckily have some room to do it in. I have been procrastinating about 21mm for sometime but with some space but a relative lack of time (and skill) I don't want to spend my entire time just building the track alone (prefer some additional buildings etc) so unlike you I prefer rtr if possible. Kinda like models being 21mm compatible I'm now contemplating designing the trackbed in 21mm and laying Peco 75 on top on the off chance that a 21mm rtr track ever becomes available or I entirely lose my mind and try to build improved track. The track centers wouldn't change and curves would need to be 21mm compatible. I have a few bits of older stock but nothing pre 2000s, and a steam loco or two already gauged to 21mm to start me off. Luckily converting the newer models should be a little easier than in previous decades

Are they actually brown on the inside? They seem very uniformly weathered!
-
Incidentally, why did the fertilizer come undecorated in the end. I though there was a CAD design with NET on it iirc?

There are several different tank wagons in this tread. Which Dublo tanks are you referring to? is there a link photo? The weed spray train provide you with a 42 flat triple pack and 5 tanks that need a chassis, maybe a Dapol which they could be mounted on but depends what you're trying to model

I think this highlights the need for a few extra lugs to become available at some point although we don't have 10' containers yet. The third container belongs to Ceimicí Teoranta a semi-state company involved in production of natural sweeteners e.g. Glucose bottom of the signage, like Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta. Obviously beet and sugar had a much larger market share. I'd wager the last container is a reefer or insulated as alluded to above. Some seen here in this thread few 2013, maybe at Cork Yard but not 100% on that

Just to add that I did not realize that the Shale wagons also started life in blue. I saw a photo somewhere (maybe IRRS site) so no point in posting a link really. So that's Taras, containers and shales, not to mention the dropside and curtain side cements
