Not guilty ! I haven’t finished a Sligo model for months now… distracted by black tender engines with mahogany coaches … 4 1
leslie10646 Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 All right and proper, @Galteemore, although it's sad that the closure of the mahogany and black railway caused the death of the little cousin? 1 1
David Holman Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Me neither, Leslie and my SLNCR work goes back even further! 1
David Holman Posted October 25, 2025 Posted October 25, 2025 Ok, not exactly Irish, but Blakey Rigg, the S Gauge NER layout by Paul Greene of this parish features in the latest Model Railway Journal. Indeed, it is a remarkable issue featuring a working 1:400 scale (yes, really) working model railway. Add in articles on DG couplings, realistic moving road vehicles in smaller scales and preview pictures of Gordon Gravett's new French layout and it adds up to being well worth a look. 1 1

Since when did Portrush become Port Rush?, "RPSI Tri-composite coach no 861 is associated with the NCC as it was used in departmental liveries of both CIE and UTA", what is that about?????????... now where are my blood pressure tablets! 1
Haulier Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I get the impression that both BRILL/R - BYLINES send a collection of old photographs on a subject to certain individuals to write notes & captions on the subject matter. While these people probably know an fair bit in general about UK railway subjects - it's a completely different ball game over this side of the Irish Sea.

Lazy journalism; a style which has become more common in the last 20 years, “sure, it’ll do” mentality. COMPLETELY unacceptable. 1 1
