We confirm this order is now paid, and attach your receipt for your records." An invoice was attached to this confirmation. Cheers, Keith

Warbonnet Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 Hi folks, I must apologise for the tone and swearing in my last post on this thread, but I hope it conveyed the sense of frustration with the packaging we held at that time. We really felt let down at the last hurdle. Anyway, now for some GREAT NEWS! Revised packaging has been designed, made, packed, and samples shipped from China to the UK in the last week. All models survived the journey! Success! Paul and I paid a visit to the South Dublin Club last night to let members have a look and feel of a few models, including a Park Royal. Feedback was very positive indeed. These are now departing China, and will be with us in circa 8 weeks time! Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding, and indeed custom. We really do not have many left, particularly the black and tan liveries, so we suggest you get your name down for them ASAP to avoid disappointment. Cheers! Fran 13 5

85 Merlin Posted April 9 Posted April 9 @Warbonnet Hi Fran, Great news and the coaches look amazing. By any chance is there any updates on the 800 class you can share have they entered production stage? Many thanks, 85 Merlin

I’m really looking forward to these. Would love to see some more photos. Has this put you off Park Royals for good, or is there still a chance of some of the other variants (main line with toilets, guards compartment, even ambulance?) If those are off the cards I’ll buy some more suburbans for conversion projects. 2
Horsetan Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Jaysus, I forgot the feckin' invoice!! Let me go and pay that off now....

We would love to do the ambulance coach pair, but we desperately need really good interior images or a drawing for their layout would also be smashing. If anyone can help, please reach out! Cheers! Mol_PMB Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I have found an interior layout drawing for one of the older invalid saloons, but not the later Park Royal ambulance cars. Looking at the dozen or so photos of AM14 and AM15 in the IRRS Flickr archive, it is apparent that they were different from each other - both exterior and interior. With all the big windows it's possible to make out some of the interior layout from exterior views, including the positioning of the bunks / stretcher racks and seating areas. The ambulance coaches also had a small catering facility and washroom. The carriage listings give AM14 with 8 seats and 20 stretchers, 2 lavatories, 1 cloak room and 2 gas rings. https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/54778604969/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/54778715435/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53506776038/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53511463103/ However AM15 had 16 seats and only 8 stretchers, also 2 lavatories, 1 cloak room and 2 gas rings. You can see the bigger seating area through the windows: https://www.flickr.com/photos/152343870@N07/49643717067/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53511628724/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53527291921/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53511297106/ On the subject of the main line Park Royals, this is a scarce colour image of a green one, seen in 1958, with the ends entirely green as well. It still has inward-opening doors but has acquired '2' class digits on them. As an aside, Cultra need to get a tin of black paint to attend to the roof of B113! 6
Mol_PMB Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I had sight of some early issues of the Irish Railfans' News last night; here are a few snippets on the topic of Park Royals: April 1955: July 1955: January 1956: July 1956: There's also an intriguing paragraph relating to a livery change, this is in the January 1959 journal: This suggests that some dark green railcars and carriages had previously been outshopped with dark green roofs. Sounds unlikely? There are occasional mistakes in the IRN. But there are some colour photos of Park Royals and AEC railcars where the roof colour hints at green under the grime, like these from Ernie. And we've seen that some Park Royals had entirely green ends (as did the AEC railcars). I wonder if some had the entire body painted green when new? I shall need to do some more research before engaging with JHB on roof colours! 4
GM073 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Hi Fran, Understandable indeed. Nevertheless we great expectations judging by the pics! More than a few expletives, rolled eyes and facepalms here too. Excuse my ignorance, but can some knowledgeable obliging person explain to me what exactly ‘ambulance’ means in terms of an Irish railway coach from 70 odd years ago. (…Don’t tell me they came with defibs installed and CE marked?) Thanks, Alan 2

ttc0169 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 You could do two Park Royal ambulance coaches and the Ballina based E class ambulance bus in a “special limited edition pack”……..a bit like the Titfield thunderbolt pack…..just sayin…. 5
GM073 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Imagine someone getting up and calling out IE for accommodating cyclists but not pilgrims! just goes to show the scale of change over time. 1

GM073 Posted Monday at 15:44 Posted Monday at 15:44 Am super excited!!! Seems like an eternity that we’ve been waiting but now we’re literally on the home run I don’t give a hoot, just super excited to see these on the rails!

Flying Snail Posted Monday at 15:50 Posted Monday at 15:50 Likewise - very excited. I know from the lads' updates here that they're a few weeks away yet, but the email might confuse someone not following along with the updates here as it says 'Current Order Status: Arrived In To Stock' before then saying 'Latest ETA: May 29, 2026'
Mol_PMB Posted Monday at 15:54 Posted Monday at 15:54 I seem to have ordered (and paid for) these in dribs and drabs so it was a bit of a surprise to receive 5 emails all at once for my total of 10 coaches. It didn't seem that many at the time, honest! I suspect that few of them will remain in the as-delivered condition! 2

The bufferbeam has a black line to separate red and green, as seen on one or two B101s. Green locos - some definitely had green rooves, others definitely had black painted rooves, but on many the only colour photos show the rooves so filthy you just can't tell. Green carriages and railcars - I am building a pool of evidence to show that some, new-build in the first half of the 1950s, had green rooves. Most had black, and I think black rooves were always used with the light green post-1955. And then we get to green ends, which certainly existed on some Park Royals and AEC railcars, possibly others. More research needed... 1 1
jhb171achill Posted Monday at 16:20 Posted Monday at 16:20 Bit like grey steam engines - they looked black so much, and so often, that many thought they were painted black. Same with domes, cab fronts, boilers and so on, with the sky-blue GNR and red Donegal liveries. Yes, some diesels had black roofs, some green. The black line round the red buffer beam was actually a throwback to steam days, when at least some grey locos had a black line rouind their buffer beams in the same way. Naturally, it soon became invisible! 2 1
