Did anybody manage to get any further information during the show? I only saw the small drawing on a page behind their stand. Hello everyone, We have some very exciting news for all of our railway modellers. With help from our friends at Hornby we have commissioned our first exclusive Irish steam locomotive. We are bringing out the UTA (former NCC) 3F tank engine better known as the Jinty. Two of this exceptionally popular tank engines where sent to Ireland during WW2. Our model will represent one member of the duo and we are hoping to have it available sometime in the new year. Numbers are limited to 500 pieces and price is to be confirmed. We hope you enjoy our first foray into Irish steam locomotives! You can pre order by ringing the Dublin or cork store. If we ended up with railroad tooling for non railroad prices then people should have a right to give out. Bit of a shame from a hardcore modellers perspective, if it genuinely is Railroad Range, but since they are so cheap BNIB on eBay, might be great for enticing new people into the hobby. I remember some years ago someone approached them to do something and the amount they were willing to work off was in the thousands. Whatever lands from this if it is not up to your standards don't buy it. True enough on the DCC front, however the coupling is a bit to get over, wouldnt cost Hornby much to update the model to have a NEM pocket and many more people would be encouraged to buy it. A couple of small improvements, such as , NEM pockets would be better, from reports I have seen its the same issue with the class 101 and 110 DMU's. Sure the UTA it not everyone’s cup of tea but if your on a budget sometimes you don’t have a choice! An Irish steam engine for €99.99 will have a few downsides inevitably. Patrick Davey Posted July 3 Share Posted July 3 I expressed an interest in this Jinty and indeed it looks really good, the livery especially, but the large couplers are giving me second thoughts. Hopefully someone can advise how feasible it is to deal with this and if it's not feasible to replace them with NEMs, then the only thing I can think of is the brutal but usually effective method of fixing black wire between the buffers (I can hear the gasps of horror from here!)
