It was listed at €450 to start and sold for €751
I picked up a heap of HDI from a lad who auctioned off the plant machinery when the factory closed down
He picked up 2 big box's of it from the boardroom when they were doing the final sums after the auction
Some weird and wonderful stuff but also 5 or 6 locos that will be listed on ebay.fr in the coming weeks
There is a second HDI loco from the same seller on at the moment which I am keeping my good eye on!
This one startred at €300

Jaysus, it's gone mad again for that stuff. I remember prices like that about 10 years ago for the HDI stuff. I got lucky a few years ago, €80 for a CIE bobo and €50 for 3 coaches, seems to fluctuate quite a bit.

No
We were shown a nifty cross shaped yoke that was to be used to fix the wobble but when they arrived it was just a box of washers.

WREENERIE, looking back through the thread last night reminded me that I have this and wondered if you have any information about it?  Was it for the Irish or UK market.

No, it was a run of the mill Wrenn wagon, they had a series of 6 wheeled tankers,  Milk Marketing Board, St Ivel, Skol, Co Op Milk, United Daries
But the one to have was the Tampo printed Guinness, only 80 made during the final stages of Wrenn production.

Very surprised to learn this, I have three of them, The paper is lifting off them and shows its age. Do you know if this was pure fantasy or was Guinness transported on British Rails in 6 wheel tankers?

Posted

Fantasy , shipped in barrels up until the early 60's and then bulk in the "Ladies" over to Liverpool & Manchester and later in 40' steel tankers
Never heard of it shipped in rail tankers

I have at least one of those tampo printed ones stocked away. I must dig it out sometime.

I remember the barrels being made at the 'Home of the black stuff' in Pim Street and the 'Ladies' berthed at Tara Street.

This is from Railway Modeller, January 2021.  Might be of interest to UK modellers.
