josefstadt Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 ... one of my favourite liveries Likewise Anthony, especially with a blue 201 at the head. Much better than the current Enterprise livery which I've heard called 'Land Rover Grey and RUC Green'! Quote
RedRich Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I met an old friend and neighbor yesterday. We were reminiscing about our childhood. We were talking about trains and he was telling me that he had found a Lima set in his parents house. He said the box was still in good condition considering all the years it had been in storage and the models were in really great condition considering he hadn't seen the set in nearly 30 years. He said it had a class 33 in supertrain livery, a box van, another wagon, a car transporter wagon with cars and unloader set. All track was there and the power controller still worked. He said his son is playing with it now and is having a great time. Rich, Quote

Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I once had the passenger version of the set. Still one or two bits lying around Quote
RedRich Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Probably this set Rich L106300X3 Dave I asked him about the loco and wagons. I asked him whether the loco had white strips and a logo or not. He said the loco was just orange and black so I assume it was a supertrain painted livery. I also asked him were there any extra bits on the roof and he said yes. I remember a couple of locos from the late seventies like that that had a similar detailing set added to the roof to make it look more like an A Class. I had a similar set myself. He said one of the wagons was brown with a CIE logo in white on the side. I asked him what the cars were like, he said there were four Ford Capri's 2 red 2 yellow. My old man had a Ford Capri when we were kids and that's how he recognized them he said the car carrier had a motorail sign on it. He also said one wagon was a white wagon but he couldn't remember what the logo was. I think there was a Unigate wagon at that time also included in sets. He's a clever boy because when I was finished asking him, he asked me was it worth something. I hadn't seen the guy in years. I do remember him having an uncle that worked in MB, and he always had loads of toys and games. That's how we got talking about it. I do remember vaguely some sets from that time. One had some repainted black and tan MK1 coaches with a gantry in the set. Rich, Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 This is the BR version of the Irish freight set It has a white wagon (Gulf I think ) and also the Motorail car carrier Looks like it could be a mixed version of both sets The Irish car carrier is a darker shade of Blue/Green and does not have the Motorail logo The Supertrain A Class was a more common loco compared to the IR one which came in the Irish InterCity set This set also has Capris on the box lid and also in the car carrier If you ever get a chance to have a scout at the box could you check the reference number please? Irish IR InterCity sets carried the ref LIMA 106300X03 for the freight set & LIMA 106300X02 for the passenger set Quote
Kirley Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Last item issued during the Lima/Jouef periodLT600001 Galway set 500 produced Coach numbers: 5209, 5232 7 5233 This second set gives the option of 6 different numbered coaches. Was this set also issued in Dec 2003? Quote
RedRich Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Dave my set is long gone unfortunately. If I meet the chap again I'll ask him to check the item number on the box. I'll have a trawl around facebook later and see if he is a member. Rich, Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Kieran All the Lima / Jouef items were released in Dec 03 They also took on the LT prefix as opposed to the L prefix They were in liquidation shortly after these models were released and then finally sold out to Hornby in late 2004. WRENNEIRE Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) Yep Reason its hard to find a boxed one is that the Box was cut up to make the buildings on the rear, which were HO! Edited November 24, 2017 by WRENNEIRE Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Something a little different for the Holidays girls. Just out of the cot after a second dose of man flu, knocked the oxball out of me The next installment of the MM gig is the 141 & 181's but as they will be fairly fresh in everyones memory and still available in a couple of locations I will leave them till the New Year These are some LIMA Irish catalogues and pictures They show what was available before MM got involved and back in the day it was this or scratch build This is the earliest catalogue I have found to date so if any of you sad bastards have an earlier one I would love to see it Its the Lima 1980/81 Irish Edition Catalogue number on the rear is 600181 The outer catalogue with reference to Irish Edition The actual catalogue is 68 pages worth and shows all UK outline models and accessories in OO & N Gauge including track, accessories and Power controllers. Some track plans were also included in OO & N However "The Piece de Resistance" is the 4 page insert which was included within the catalogue Reference number 600140 British rolling stock on the cover, great start! Next 2 pages show 2 sets that were never produced, 105020 Western Express And 105821 C.I.E. Emergency Service The back page shows all the models that were supposedly available at the time but I have yet to see the 303203W Sundries in OO gauge I will post some more catalogues over the weekend Edited November 25, 2017 by WRENNEIRE Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) The 1982 Irish Accessories sheet Single sheet with a King Class on the cover? I imagine this may have come as an addition to a 1982 catalogue similar to the 1980/81 sheet but I have yet to find a 1982 Irish Edition catalogue. Picked this up last night (2/8/13) 1981/82 catalogue It contained the Accessory sheet as described above. Edited November 25, 2017 by WRENNEIRE Quote
