So to get a new model design, central can, flywheel, dcc, louspekare, uberfine detailing and scalpel fine paint job all rolled up for less than 200 squid? Heaven. Some people can have a personal attachment to a certain loco for a number of reasons. 220 was the first of the class that I saw up close and I had a good walk around it. I also had a cab pass and travelled to Heuston in her. The driver let her stretch her legs in the Curragh and it is a completely different experience having a view from inside the cab then it is to sitting in a coach. From a modeller's perspective - not that modellers need much excuse anyhow - 220 out of all the releases covers the widest possible time period, with it's unplated steps and being one of the last into 'Intercity' livery. 201bhoy Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Great points from Rich and Rob. It was the first "loco" I'd travelled behind, after the 80s and the Castle Class. I travelled behind it and the mk2s to Dublin on a Sunday enterprise service, and then much later on I travelled behind it and the mk3s to Galway. When she was announced by P Murphy she was top of my list to get, bought 2 in the end. My River Blackwater is the pride of my 201s. I plan on getting another 220 to turn into 227, another for 223 and when 230 is released, one to become 207 maybe with the yellow face. That’s easy, Hornby, SSM, MTK, Q Kits, Worsley Works, Model Irish Railways, Provincial Wagons, in fact just look in your ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of Irish related items and the answer is in front of you.
