It was probably a virus attachment he was offering to send people when they PM'd him. That's why I asked him to just post a list up. I think the mods took the safe option and removed the thread.

Hi @murphaph. I got the file from him. It was a pub file,  which my son converted to pdf. It was a list of IRM models (no prices). He told me in his reply that he also had Murphy/bachmann stuff which he had to dig out. He said he would send this list too, when he was sure what he had. It seemed ok to me to be honest. But I agree with you that he should have just followed guildlines and posted list/photos here along with prices. I messaged him last night asking what had happened to the post , but as yet have heard nothing back. BTW I opened the file on my wifes phone 😉 and it is still working away ok so far.

Edit- A search on RM web shows no results for his name. Hmmmmm.......................

I too had a list from him, nothing to interest me but I gather he is away for a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps.

I didn’t reply to his posting it sounded a little strange especially not posting up a list with prices as they say if it sounds too good to be true …………

Unfortunately a few people didn’t see the bigger picture 😜😜😜😜😜

I got both lists and he also said this:

"I am away on holiday for the next week or so and will get back to you on price. The locos are not chipped and come 'DCC ready'."

I hope it's all above board and nobody has been infected with anything but be aware of the increasing use of AI to create personalised scams. AI can harvest information from anywhere you have been online and even trick you into thinking you know the sender. I'd almost be surprised if forums weren't a target for such AI generated scams. Hopefully nothing in it this time but be careful out there folks and it's almost never a good idea to open an attachment from someone you don't know.

Got the list myself but had it go through the anti virus before I opened it and nothing was detected. Changing all the passwords to be safe

So, as it’s been a month, and @M18Hellcat is online almost every day, using the PM facility, who has received their purchases?

I have been in touch with him a couple of times, latest being over the weekend. I have decided not to purchase😎.

When I first saw his original ad, I thought it a bit strange when he mentioned only dealing via PM and not showing any pictures or prices of items he has for sale.  I hope nobody has been caught out in anyway, of if they have delt with him they have received their items. :)

Has anyone sent him any money?

Well rule one on this part of the forum is that you must provide photos of articles for sale along with prices. That didn't happen obviously. So off to a bad start. @murphaph, we probably won't hear any feedback if it's negative. If someone scores big we will definitely hear about it😃. To be honest, the list I got didn't seem to contain any mind blowing bargains. Think I would rather deal with "a man we all know"😉.

I successfuly purchased a nice rake of six ballast wagons in weathered NIR livery. Received promptly and are now on my layout.

Well I’ll eat my hat!

Great that they arrived, as it’s never nice seeing people get burned.

I also received my package form @M18Hellcat. Nir 112 and BL flats.

Pristine condition but also the level of detailing added to 112 to the hoses and the addition of the orange socket can be shown when you compare it to a real image of 112 at cabra with a out of service bogie cement wagon in 1996.  (image sent by Colm o Callaghan)

@M18Hellcat has been absolute   gentleman to deal with, he gave an extremely fair price of two rare products,I’ve spoken to him numerous times on the phone,we chatted everything trains to other hobbies and about his visits to Ireland. Delighted with doing business with him,Top gent 👏🏻

Good to see this had worked out well.

I didn’t engage with him because he was very specific in the initial messages about wanting to sell to Irish customers only.
