Deutschbahn Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 How the north wall has changed so quickly baffles me. Look of this picture on google maps with no mk3's in the foreground! Will those 7 tracks in the foreground be removed once the mk3's get shifted I wonder? Quote
Killucan2 Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Long time ago bubble cement and timbers, not now. Quote
Blaine Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Timbers, bubble cement, bogie cement, 2 axle spoils...does not seem so long ago now Quote
tonybonneyba Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Agreed the De Dietrichs are very uncomfortable in comparison The DD's will be getting a brand new 'level' to them when they get over-hauled this summer; Leaver seats New livery New style to coaches and lots more............. Can't wait! Info based on what ive been told by TNIR officials. Quote

Broithe Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Is the photo distorted or is that coach cut in half? It's two, stitched together. Two photos, I mean, not two coaches.. Quote

It will bring a bit more variety to northern line come the summer anyway. 3000 class, more 29000 class, maybe even the odd ICR Quote

Deutschbahn Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Some ICRs have been fitted with signalling equipment needed to run up North I believe. Yeah set 1 to set 6 are fitted with TPWS and AWS for use on NIR. They are also unique not showing the Irish Rail "Tricolour" logo icon beside the "Irish Rail, Iarnrod Eireann" text due to controversial reasons if they run across the border as far as i know. Quote
Killucan2 Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 The remains of 7132 are in front of blue porto cabin at bottom of pic and 7140 which is half cut in half is on the line were the spoil wagons are, them and two others look like been broken on site due to having break gear and couplings cut so can't be moved. I heard that the finger waving brigade were worried about southern (american made) diesels going north and corrupting northern (spanish made) dmu's and french made german companied enterprise stock, and that any trains running beyond central junction would get a battering by 13 year olds who liked to throw heavy stuff at passenger trains for no reason, and that if a tricolour was applied which none of them would even see, nor recognise at speed, would warrant an upgrade to 15 year old scuts for added bum fluff moustachioed threats. Posssibly read on Waterford Whispers though .... Quote

steventrain Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 1 June - 228 + Mk3 Transfer from Dundalk to Adelaide Yard for scrapping. http://chrisplayfair.smugmug.com/Travel/2014-Photos/Ireland-June-2014/41272607_KkrMG5#!i=3285882028&k=dWt6Jrk Quote
Seanw12 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 That's great to see them going again but where there going:( Quote
Railer Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I don't think there is any point in trying to keep DVT 6305 if it is to be kept as from what I can see of what is left in North Wall none of them are push pull stock. Can't see any Mk3s being saved at this stage except 7601 at Dundalk as a spare for the spare Enterprise EGV. Quote
Deutschbahn Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Any idea where the mk3 cafe/bar coach is? Is it in north wall is was it already scrapped? Quote
201bhoy Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I missed them!!!!!!!!!!!! I was out for like on flipping hour for mass and I missed them WHY, GOD, WHY?! Quote

201bhoy Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Penance? Maybe he's testing my faith and next Sunday there'll be two runs... Great pictures by Chris by the way! Anyone have any info on whether there'll be another run? If so when? Quote

Anyone have any info on whether there'll be another run? If so when? All you can do is go out and see if they turn up next Sunday. Unless you get confirmation of them running at a certain date. Quote
COMMUTER29000 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I wonder if the next lot of MK3s will go direct to Belfast or will they store them in Dundalk for a while? Quote
gm171 kk Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Some of you have probably seen the pics of 224 coupled to the MK3s in North Wall on Facebook. There must be another Dundalk transfer soon. Maybe this Thursday seeing as that was the day they ran the last time? Quote
UP6936 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 GM171 is correct, it is supposed to be this Thursday. But as always with these things, that could change Quote
Railer Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 We'll see if 224 takes them to Dundalk and then another 201 with TPWS takes them from there another day. It will be 224s first time on the northern line in about 5 years if it runs them up to Dundalk. Quote
UP6936 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I would imagine 224 will go to Dundalk and as you say a TPWS loco will take them on, probably on Sunday Quote
