Dave Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Thanks lads, great to hear the feedback it spurs me on. When doing big builds like this it's easy to get lost along the way and lose inspiration, I keep a long to do list in the workshop and set daily goals to keep pushing through. Quote
Dave Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 A couple more showing the curve of the viaduct Quote

Just incredibly stunning, a true craftsman at work! Thanks Bos, it's a labour of love. Gonna be hard to part with it at this stage! I don't run trains on it so I don't get too attached! It has already done a lot for marketing and it will be a main feature of the new website. Quote
Dave Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 A few pics of this weeks progress, just started ballasting. Quote
Broithe Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 just started ballasting. Great work! OK, it's a lot of ballasting, but the shovel might not be the best tool for application on such a fine scale.... Quote
aclass007 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 It's going to be an amazing layout when it's done. Brilliant work so far.. What are the overall dimensions of the layout? Quote

GSR 800 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Happy Birthday Dave! Broithe, that's a very nice cake, but The livery is incorrect, although some pictures, and fading, did make CIE green look a sort of light blue... Quote

Georgeconna Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 looks the biz Dave, Not too much clutter either. The Loco shed floor looks well executed. Quote
BosKonay Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Ah Dave! Wow and wow again! What colour did you use for the floor - the red is spot on! Quote
Kirley Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Everything is right about this layout, thanks for posting. Quote
Weshty Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Daaaaamn.....loving this. As Kirley said, everything is right, all the delicate little details. Sweet. Quote
Dave Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Thanks lads What colour did you use for the floor - the red is spot on! The shed floors are actually red floor tile paint, got a small tin of it in Dealz for €1.50 it's a bit too glossy so I went over it in a dark wash then weathered it then sealed it with flat clear. scahalane Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Great job, love that slight green tinge in the ballast just like the real stuff. Quote
Glenderg Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Great job, love that slight green tinge in the ballast just like the real stuff. +1 Superb stuff Dave, truly superb. Quote
Dave Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Bit of an update. The scrap yard is finished. I removed an embankment to make it bigger and put down a very fine ballast then weathered it. I had to make some scrap metal bales and still have to paint and weather some of them. There are two diggers going into the scrap yard and I took the buckets off them and fitted a grapple to one and a magnet to the other. The grapple came from a Kibri kit so I used the rest of it for the crusher. The fence is not fitted yet, that still has to be painted and weathered. Quote
