PorkyP Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Now if it's a procession you want, how about, Father O'Flaherty in front on the rail inspection cycle, then a fine big statue of Our Lady fixed to one of those hand pump carts, then a couple of lads swinging the inscense on an engineer's trolley, and maybe a few members of the choir in a tub wagon.... (probably need a man with a red flag at the front of the whole shebang tho) Sure, sounds like the kind of thing Dave Allen might have done..! 1 Quote
roxy_guy10 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Hi All, Long break from model trains, getting back to it now. My brother does metal work and made these for me, not original of course but will be going in the railway room. 7 Quote
roxy_guy10 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) Cheers, he made 4 of them so I might stick 2 of them on the car! Edited May 12, 2020 by roxy_guy10 1 2 Quote
jhb171achill Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Given the size, they're very like the stuck-on ones which appeared on the "A" class locos when introduced and were only taken off once they were repainted black in the early 1960s. Very nicely made. Quote
roxy_guy10 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Cheers, the brother is a dab hand with metal. He makes swords for a living. Quote
NIR Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Railwayana of a sort. A turntable/roundhouse arrangement uncovered at the old Birmingham Curzon Street station, could be nearly 200 years old 2 Quote

skinner75 Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 I spotted a repro sign on either Donedeal or Adverts a few days ago - railway was spelt 'ralway' on it... If you are going to make fake railway signs, at least run the text through a spell-checker first! 1 Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 This plate has turned up at several different auctions over the last few months, Painted, unpainted with the same running number every time. Caveat emptor! Quote

Galteemore Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Looks very much like it’s enamel, screwed to a wooden background. Look carefully and you can see the - quite well done - attempt to fill in and conceal the screw heads on the front. 4 1 Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Just that some letters look a bit odd, like a repair over damaged enamel. Quote
Metrovik Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Picked up one or two things myself a while ago, One of which is this Lantern. Nice little piece if do say so myself. I'm highly doubtful that it's Irish though. I've a funny hunch that it's Indian, maybe some of you more knowledgeable people might shed some light on it. Enjoy the photos of my Kitchen too! Now for the potentially controversial part, I actually use this lamp, I get things should be preserved safely but I feel that since I've paid for it, I might as well use it. Plus it looks fair nice in the dark. I've only just realised how rusty it looks in that light. I can assure you it's not that bad. Edited February 15 by Metrovik 5 Quote
Metrovik Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Too big for one post apparently.... It has to glass sliders, one for green one for red. The red picture is annoyingly blurry but I'm not going back out into the cold tonight... It was like the worst birthday ever, trying to blow this out.... And that's not to mention the fumes 1 Quote

Standard lamp of its type - used on many railway lines. The only clue as to origin might be initials stamped on it somewhere - is there anything visible? Quote
Metrovik Posted February 15 Posted February 15 No obvious names standing out, but there is there were a few numbers and letters stamped on the side, I searched them on Google and found a similar lamp for sale in Japan. However the seller also had no idea where it was from, he also guessed india. A picture of the cleaner lamps stamp Quote
