Rob Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 That looks it has great potential- would be good to get some track to showcase the wide variety of stock you have !! 1 Quote

Don't think I have enough track or points for what I THINK I want, at the moment. Tacking and gluing back-boards to base-boards at the moment. Hope to run at least one bloody train before the day is out, even just back and forth along a straight stretch! 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted September 25, 2022 Author Posted September 25, 2022 And finally, after about a year and a half running nothing... 6 1 1 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 Gave A1 a run this morning. One word: wow! So smooth and quiet, with incredible low-speed running qualities - using a 30 year old Hornby controller on DC! 6 1 Quote
Bob229 Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 The silver A looks great, the smooth low speed running is excellent 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 Here we see A3R doing some shunting back and forth. Again, lovely smooth low-speed running, despite terrible power supply setup, very very quiet. There was a faint creaking sound from A1, but nothing at all from A3R. 6 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 Another run for A3R today on my lunch break. I have no more track that I'm prepared to chop up until I know what I'm doing with this, so that's it for now. I do have some uncouplng ramps and I guess a SuperTrain blue Tara run would be nice later... 4 1 Quote

Yeah, as soon as they think that I'm sitting down, it's all "me me me, wah wah wah". Ungrateful so and so's. Dug out the box of containers and points just now and am trying to visualise the three lines. I certainly have enough track to fix two lines in place at the weekend, and maybe some of the third line. Rear line will have two sidings, each just long enough for two 141's, and curve back to line up with the sidings. Middle line will be on a Shuttle Controller, no points, just a curve to match the rear line. Haven't fully decided on the front line, probably a loop and one long siding, something like that. Might need a three-way point to save space but we'll see. The idea is that it's a yard area just outside a station, the imaginary station being off the right, and the "shed" inside the IKEA BILLY unit is where the mainline would be. The shed will only have three lines entering, not four, that's just for judging the length. Ah, all fantasy at the moment, let's see if I can even drag my carcass out of bed on Sunday to do something, or just curl up in a ball until Monday. 3 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted February 9, 2023 Author Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) Another Chris Dyer / Tony Mirolo re-spray arrived in the post today! Unfortunately they messed up and gave me a second 081, so I'll have to get somebody to re-number it some day. Cost-prohibitive to post it anywhere so it'll be a working holiday for somebody. I know that you can see the carrier film, but that seems to be the way that Chris and Tony work these days. Again, it can be a working holiday for somebody to tidy this up! Short video uploading... popeye Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Nice loco, I hated the grey at first but it's ok now. Pity about the carrier film, may be redo that as well. 2 Quote
Georgeconna Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Would not be too happy looking at that silvering TBH. What I would do it take that off, Gloss the area, Fresh Decal , Re sit it properly, Gloss over again and then matt. Did good few back in the day. Should of done one for myself! 6 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted February 10, 2023 Author Posted February 10, 2023 Is "silvering" the term for the shine off the carrier film? 3 Quote

connollystn Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Chris & Co. have done a nice respray on those locomotives. Have to say that my favourite livery for the 071s is the Silver & Black, however, I prefer the appearance of the cabs without the grab handles - a lot neater looking. Wonder if it's to early for IRM to consider producing their version of this prototype, I'd say there's a lot of them about, still. 1 1 Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Yep Have to agree about the grab rails 1 1 1 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Care package arrived today... Big thanks to @WRENNEIRE for four stunning coaches!!! Thanks also to whichever one of the IRM lads got a few Dicky Tara's for DJD Senior at the Rahen(e)y show. Whoever it was said that they were all gone, but told him to come back a bit later and they'd found a few for him! 8 Quote
