  1. There were three circular routes serving Belfast, the still existing one through Lisburn and Antrim, and the now closed ones through Cookstown and Derry/Londonderry. The latter still partly exists through Coleraine. Stephen
  2. Quite delightful. Stephen
  3. We could always hope that this Ruston is on Hornby’s radar. They were widely used at industrial locations throughout the UK, in addition to the solitary example working for CSE. Stephen
  4. I think you’re right. It opens up great opportunities for modellers of the Irish scene. Stephen
  5. Have you ever shown a track plan? I would be interested in seeing one. Stephen
  6. More lovely photos of the South Waterford line. Stephen
  7. Does this help? Stephen
  8. These don’t appear to have been very common in Ireland. What British model would be best to use? Stephen
  9. Lovely stuff, George. Stephen
  10. Let’s hope 2021 is better than 2020. Can it be any worse? Let’s hope not. We now have a COVID-19 vaccine and a UK/EU ‘comprehensive’ trade deal. I’m sure one will work but not so sure about the other. Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stephen
  11. I got my pair this morning Royal Mail 24 hour guaranteed delivery. At this time of year that is remarkable. Stephen
  12. I got my notification from Hattons today as well. Stephen
  13. Is anyone else on the eastern side of the Irish Sea having trouble laying their hands on the latest 121’s. Just spoken to Hattons and there seems to be a delay in getting them out of Dublin. It wouldn’t have anything to do with the time of year, Christmas no Brexit, would it? Stephen
  14. To return to this topic, this has probably got a lot to do with Brexit. A direct service between northern France and Rosslare is on the cards, cutting out the trek through UK. The additional journey time is preferable to the additional paperwork from 1st January 2021. Stephen
  15. How right you are about Fintona. An almost perfect layout for those short of space. Stephen
  16. I’ve got a couple of the SF Sulzers. They are heavy and run very well. Stephen
  17. It looks just the part. Sorry to hear about the foot. Hope things improve with time. Stephen
  18. My particular favourites are Bundoran and Fintona. Many thanks. Stephen
  19. I think you’ll find that they’ve sold out what they pre-ordered, not sold out altogether. I’ve always found Hattons very good to deal with, no complaints. Stephen I think you’ll find the real rip off merchants are those asking astronomical prices on eBay. But, again like retailers, you don’t have to use them. Stephen
  20. Well, it’s arriving into Dundalk, so maybe it’s to run round before heading home. Stephen
  21. I am extremely envious of those who have already received their CIE black and tan 121’s. They seem to be taking a long time to reach the eastern seaboard of the Irish Sea. Any idea why? Stephen
  22. Absolutely stunning. Stephen
  23. According to Hatton, 132 is in CIE Supertrain livery. Stephen

It seems like CIE employed the same tactics as BR when it came to closing railway lines, make them appear to be uneconomic. Stephen
  25. Locos and rolling stock getting dirty is an everyday fact of life but there was a stage when cleaning seemed to be a no-no. Did the 121’s get that dirty when first introduced? Stephen
