If you read the last paragraph of Mayner’s post again, you’ll see that they haven’t decided yet about RTR. Sorry about the duplication, I got called away to feed our Bengals before I had finished! Stephen

That was a good, but short series, of articles. I believe others were Killarney, Carlow and Rathmore. An interesting variety. Stephen

End of the line 1940s Ulster railways
StevieB replied to Noel's topic in What's happening on the network?
I was talking theoretically. I believe consideration was given during WW2 to laying a third rail on the CDJRC Derry to Strabane line so that all military traffic didn’t have to go via the NCC line. The GNRI Derry to Strabane ran through neutral Ireland. Stephen -
End of the line 1940s Ulster railways

There were three circular routes serving Belfast, the still existing one through Lisburn and Antrim, and the now closed ones through Cookstown and Derry/Londonderry. The latter still partly exists through Coleraine. Stephen -
Quite delightful. Stephen

We could always hope that this Ruston is on Hornby’s radar. They were widely used at industrial locations throughout the UK, in addition to the solitary example working for CSE. Stephen

I think you’re right. It opens up great opportunities for modellers of the Irish scene. Stephen

Have you ever shown a track plan? I would be interested in seeing one. Stephen

More lovely photos of the South Waterford line. Stephen

Does this help? Stephen

These don’t appear to have been very common in Ireland. What British model would be best to use? Stephen

Lovely stuff, George. Stephen

Let’s hope 2021 is better than 2020. Can it be any worse? Let’s hope not. We now have a COVID-19 vaccine and a UK/EU ‘comprehensive’ trade deal. I’m sure one will work but not so sure about the other. Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stephen

I got my pair this morning Royal Mail 24 hour guaranteed delivery. At this time of year that is remarkable. Stephen

I got my notification from Hattons today as well. Stephen

Is anyone else on the eastern side of the Irish Sea having trouble laying their hands on the latest 121’s. Just spoken to Hattons and there seems to be a delay in getting them out of Dublin. It wouldn’t have anything to do with the time of year, Christmas no Brexit, would it? Stephen
-
To return to this topic, this has probably got a lot to do with Brexit. A direct service between northern France and Rosslare is on the cards, cutting out the trek through UK. The additional journey time is preferable to the additional paperwork from 1st January 2021. Stephen

How right you are about Fintona. An almost perfect layout for those short of space. Stephen -
I’ve got a couple of the SF Sulzers. They are heavy and run very well. Stephen

It looks just the part. Sorry to hear about the foot. Hope things improve with time. Stephen

My particular favourites are Bundoran and Fintona. Many thanks. Stephen -
Who Are The Box-Shifters And Why Are They So Bad?
StevieB replied to DJ Dangerous's topic in General Chat
I think you’ll find that they’ve sold out what they pre-ordered, not sold out altogether. I’ve always found Hattons very good to deal with, no complaints. Stephen I think you’ll find the real rip off merchants are those asking astronomical prices on eBay. But, again like retailers, you don’t have to use them. Stephen -
NIR 104 Class (C Class) visits to Republic

Well, it’s arriving into Dundalk, so maybe it’s to run round before heading home. Stephen -
I am extremely envious of those who have already received their CIE black and tan 121’s. They seem to be taking a long time to reach the eastern seaboard of the Irish Sea. Any idea why? Stephen

Absolutely stunning. Stephen
