Interesting indeed! I suppose Macha in her later guise has the widest berth in terms of rtr rolling stock.

I do wonder with the lack of an update so close to release, considering the website still shows them in tooling and decoration with the date for Q3 2026.

I second what GSR 800 says here I have tagged Mr Fran Bruke @Warbonnet but sadly no reply from him, would his parthner @BosKonay be able to share some information with us in regards to the 800 class project, I feel it gets left behind abit compared to other projects, forgive me if I am wrong on that, I am just overjoyed these are being built. - 85 Merlin

In fairness the forum isn't tracked, but Accurascale support was not able to provide any further insight on it either.

Nearly sure that one of the A/S / IRM lads posted in the Park Royal thread a week or two back, saying that their attention would now turn to the 22000’s and 800’s.

Landing this quarter seems unlikely. I’d say next quarter or the following one are more likely.

They’ll need to assess prototypes, and packaging, to avoid a Park Royal repeat, before even signing off. It’ll be a few months after that, at the earliest, before they arrive.

No news is good news and all that.

I'd say, given that the painted sample has had a spin around New Junction, it’s safe to assume the model is currently being reviewed, or has been very recently, and that we can expect an update once they have some feedback from that process. To be fair, they’re very good at letting us know once they have news to share.

I take the project status page with a large pinch of salt until the model actually moves into the “In Transit” stage. So many issues can crop up during the tooling and production stages that those deadlines are aspirational at best. That’s just the nature of the beast. Accurascale have a great crew of project managers, but there’s only so much they can do if a factory makes a mistake or if the FIFA Peace Prize laureate decides very strongly  to make international trade and shipping rather more interesting than it needs to be.

Over the past 11 years, we have always shared news on our projects, once we had an update. This wont change with the 800s, and when it moves to the next stage, we will report the news then. Please also note it is the middle of summer, and we take holiday time off too!

Edit seemed the Monthly payment thing was not synced to my account. Phew, nothing worse than being on hols and getting a 400 notes demand.

Which of the various 800 Class models being released would have seen the highest mileage and had the longest lives?

On the other end of the spectrum, like the grey version, which of the models would have had the shortest lives?

Talking about the models being released, more than the prototypes themselves.

Maedbh in GSR green would've probably seen most mileage. Maedbh and Macha racked up high mileages in their early years before the "Phony War" ended, coal became scarce and timetables cut back.

My guess would be Maedbh in GSR green and Tailte in light green. Maedbh and Macha in dark (FS) green after that. Tailte had a high mileage by 54-55, which is why she was withdrawn first. (She was generally considered the most reliable)

Maedbh (GS) and photo grey obviously have barely seen a wheel turn, and Macha in dark green with the light tender would've seen little work.
