gm171 kk Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 That picture was uploaded to Facebook last week. It showed Executive coach 7161 in the green livery seen in Deepthroat's picture except without the white line and the Orient Express logos but it did have the new IR logo. Just in case anyone thought the livery was photo shopped too. Quote
gm171 kk Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Here's the original. Hope the photographer doesn't mind. A pic was also uploaded to Facebook this morning showing 088 shunting a rake of mk3s around Dundalk for scrapping. Quote

Deutschbahn Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Anyone have any idea how much the mk3's are going per coach for scrap anyway? Quote
Railer Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Reports are that only 1 EGV survived at Dundalk and not 2 as suggested. Quote

Last time I saw pics of Dundalk, the Mk3s were in two rakes and the two EGVs were together. Were some Mk3s moved to Northwall before scrapping began. There was more than 10 there. Quote

On the 4.2.14 217 shunted 7612 + 5 mk3pp in to the old freight Yard for scrapping , scrapping start on the 10.2.13 on this set . On the 12.2.14 088 Shunted the other 9 mk3s in to the old freight Yard for scrapping , scrapping started the same day on this set. Quote
Railer Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for the info. That explains why I saw 217 in Connolly last week anyway. Odd that they'd send a 201 to Dundalk for that that doesn't work the Enterprise or would normally be on the northern main line. It's not like it was in the area type of thing. Quote
dave182 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I hate to ask really, but any more photos of the coaches being cut up at Dundalk? Or if anyone will be at North Wall when the scrap men start there, take a few pic's and share! (hard as it might be!) A scrap line is something I'd love to include on the layout, though scrapping much older wagons- on my layout mk3's are king! Quote
Killucan2 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 North wall starting Tuesday week, take a trip down and get them leaving on the back of low loaders,35 to go from there. Quote

gm171 kk Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 North wall starting Tuesday week, take a trip down and get them leaving on the back of low loaders,35 to go from there. Are they being scrapped on site in North Wall or is there a possibility they could be moved to Inchicore for scrapping? Quote
Glenderg Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Hamill's in Belfast are the scrap merchants so one could assume since it's close to the port tunnel and motorway north they'd scrap them at the North Wall. Just a guess though... Quote
Killucan2 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Scrapped in north wall, each coach will be cut in half, bogies same, coaches loaded on flat bed trailers taken north to Hamills yard, same as Dundalk this week a said sight to see. Quote
gm171 kk Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That's a shame. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to get one last pic of them on the move. Quote
Glenderg Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Do the wheels get recycled mark, or get scrapped also? Might pop down during the week for a nosey, it's only a 15 min dander for me. Quote
