Guest hidden-agenda Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) The worst thing I done recently was Diesel in my petrol car-a very expensive mistake. The work looks first class Eamonn i love that signal and your mistake has been made by many ( the local police have done it at my local garage and lets not forget my darling wife and the £2,500 bill for the short drive home) oh yes petrol in a diesel car does wonders for a Bosch fuel pump. enniscorthyman Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 Yes I surely will and I will have a39 in action with sound so if anyone is in Wexford on Sunday 30th,come along to the Caimvintage day.Caim is a small village outside Enniscorthy near Killane and Rathnure and is near the main road to Kilkenny. All proceeds go to local hospice home care. This vintage day has be changed to October 21th due to a local tragedy. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 A few more photos taken this evening.Just some more work to do on grass trees etc. Quote
Kirley Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) The lights give a very atmospheric look to your layout Eamonn. Edited September 29, 2012 by Kirley Quote
heirflick Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 eamonn.... great work as always!... but its Arthurs day ....so get your good wife and go forth to the local pub and sink a few!! Quote
RedRich Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 The scene looks like a winters evening Eamonn, great work and a lot of thought has gone into it. Rich, Quote
irishthump Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Layout is looking great! As the lads said, the lights take it to another level. I love the water tower, the rust looks so real. I noticed an Ikea bag in the backrocund of one of the pics, did you buy your ballast there? Quote

Thanks for the comments lads. The ballast in the ikea bag is only for storage. Quote
josefstadt Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 The lights make the whole scene very atmospheric. Reminiscent of somewhere like Thomastown on a winter's evening, I can imagine the signalman sitting by the warmth of the stove in the cabin. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 A bit of video from a few test trains today. The ballast and cravens plus the short CIE goods seem to run best after my beet train was driving me soft derailing all the time.As my attic is devoid of track, its only now I can see what is running well and what work needs to be done in future on my rolling stock.Perhaps on my future attic layout, track will be better and hopfully less derailments. Quote
Sulzer201 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Well done there Eamonn, that cie goods looks great. The layout is A1. Quote
FrankS Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Lovely work, Enniscorthyman. Pity the show is so far from me, would love to see it in the flesh. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted October 7, 2012 Author Posted October 7, 2012 Lovely work, Enniscorthyman. Pity the show is so far from me, would love to see it in the flesh. Thanks for the comments Guys. And it would be a fair old journey from Oz Frank just to see a Vintage day and me cursing at derailing trains. If the weather holds up it will be great,if not,it could be a disaster. It at least is raising money for a good cause-local Hospice home care. Quote
Horsetan Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I presume those are SSM's GS&WR/GSR/CIE signals - lovely things Quote

enniscorthyman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Its back to the work bench for me,and I have just got the SSM B101 kit the other day and will start it tomorrow. There is a option of either a Hornby deltic or sd9 chassis,so I have elected to use the deltic as she only cost 36 stl from Hattons.I plan to paint her in the final supertrain livery in which they ran,so lets see how I fair in the comming weeks. Riversuir226 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Good man eamonn, looking forward to seen this build progress Quote
enniscorthyman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Good man eamonn, looking forward to seen this build progress Cheers Tom,My main fear will be the painting which will be done by hand,so will have to get her built first and then see about paint. Quote
RedRich Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Nice project to start the year with Eamonn. A fantastic looking resin body, lovely etched details on the fret. Undercoat the model with a good primer. Several light coats won't obliterate the fine detail. I've seen countless hand painted models and they look amazing. Mix your final colors well and consistent. If you can manage to get to an art shop ask what would be the best type brush to use for your model. I can't wait top see some progress and I bet it will be ace. Rich, Quote
scahalane Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Good to see someone getting the ball rolling here, looking forward to see how it progresses. Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Check out the MRSI Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/modelrailways/ Look for David Mirolo He has posted some pics and also some comments about the kit Quote
Kirley Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Good man Eamonn for taking the plunge. I’m about to practice soldering one of Des’s Brake Van kits and once it get it finished I shall be following you. Keep posting your progress please. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 I got some work done today, with the buffers and roof and side grills.I cut out the brass chassis and according to the instructions all I have to do is transfer accross the bogies, although I am not sure the brass chassis will be strong enough when you consider that extra weight will have to be added and perhaps be a little too bendy, but that is for another day.I used the deltic chassis for my A39 project and had to cut of the fuel thanks and cut and shut to suit. The brass chassis does fit well to the loco body, and so will give me a idea of what is needed to be done on the deltic. I also cut out parts for the drivers desk and it looks like only one end will have the drivers desk as space will be a problem in the motor bogie end.I may study this desk as I am not sure what way it goes,so any suggestions are welcome.I cant say I have seen many photos of the inside of a 101 loco anywhere.
