The Dutch van is in need of a proper coupling,

while the plough van is far too clean and when

time permits will get some dirt and grime on them.

The plan is to refurbish my 12 ballast hoppers with

proper vacuum pipes, and I have spotted some nice

brass wheels for the side of the hoppers which I persume

let the stones out underneath.

Sounds good Eamonn, plenty of projects to keep you busy.

Lovely work Enniscorthyman,

looking forward to seeing A39 in action, now with SOUND and vision!

Tom

Thanks Tom.

I was down at Gerrys Ballybeg tonight and brought a39 for a trial.

I am delighted with the bass reflex sound and took some photos

and video, however my video did not come out.i will post up the

photos later.I also hope to do a photo feature on the A and C

class locos of Ballybeg soon.

Just a few photos of a39 on her first run on Gerrys Ballybeg.I did

take a video, but for some reason did not come out.I am much

happier with the extra weight and proper bogie sideframes not

to mention the bass reflex speaker gives a much better sound.

I will do a video again when I get a chance. Not sure if the video

will show the better bass reflex sound to good effect.

Looks fabulous, the paint job, the weathering, the detailing!

I thought it was the real thing on a grainy 35mm slide shot for a second! That's how good it was :)

Thanks Lads, and Des thanks to you for the SSM brass detail parts which

helped a lot.

Have to agree with the contributors Eamonn, she is absolutely class and looks equally smashing on the Bells and the Cravens. Gerry's layout completes the scene.

The Bells are nice indeed, and just looking at them on the siding

with no loco was still nice.must get a few myself.

Lovely Eamonn, as the lads have said the SSM detailing kit does wonders for the Silver Fox model. The headlights like nice also. Even though I have no need for them, I think I will have to invest in a Bell 20' to pose it in a scene, as you see them located in plenty of places around the country. No matter which model from any era, Gerry's layout seems timeless.

Rich,

Glad you all like the scene - EM is a dab hand with the camera! The 20ft Bell containers are from C Rail Intermodal and cost only £7 each (£8 for the 40 ft Bell which is also very nicely done). The two 20fts plus one 40 ft came to less than €30 including postage. On Ballybeg I have placed them on two IRM flats made for me by Model Shop Belfast.

Next on my work bench is-

1.a39 will get two new traction tires to improve performance.

2.I am thinking strongly of a bass reflex in one of my sound chipped

071s,which will need some work on the chassis and cab bulkhead.

3.I will post up photos of one of SSM signals that I want to have a

working LED in the lamp and possibly a light in a shunt signal on the

same post.

4.My ballast wagons will get upgrades on hand wheels and pipes.

I will start these in the new year,so hopefully people will enjoy.

Looking forward to these developments Eamonn, your certainly both skilled and brave to fit the base reflex, but no better man. Can't wait to hear the GM roar! Also, the SSM signal and shunt signal will look the business.

Must have missed this, but glad I noticed at last. Really top bit of work in a great setting.

Thanks David, but I have great people to help me along in this

hobby like Gerry,Anthony and from others to push me along and

give things a go.Its only back to 2005 and I had no Internet and

no one to get advice on Irish railways. How times have changed.

Some work that I did in the last few weeks.

I had a go at weed spray tanks, while using bits that I have

lying around, mostly from a large amount of prestwin chassis

leftover parts. The tank itself looks fine but I think is a bit

too small in scale, and the walkway on top is a bit wonky.

The Bedford SS schoolbus is on the workbench at the moment.

I am waiting for some parts for my ballast wagons and have new brass hand

wheels plus bearing inserts for the prestwin axels.

Crikey,

I remember seeing those buses on the roads as a kid back in the 80s. And they were fairly antique then! Will make a very interesting project.

Nice work on those Cement wagons (on the other thread) by the way. They look the business. They'd make a very nice looking consist, hauled by a 141/181.

Oh one more thing, The modern hand wheels by 'Model Etch'... been combing tinternet for something like these. Thanks for the tip-off

Cheers, Tom.
