Garfield Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The order has been placed-see you at the exhibition for a chat gents Cheers, Noel! The stand should be a handy meet-up point for the forum members. Quote
BosKonay Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Thanks for all the orders and deposits to date, we're delighted the initial run is already well into healthy double digit % subscription at this early stage! Quote
Richard EH Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hi guys, The hopper looks very similar to the GRNi one as well as shown in the oakwood press book - not sure if they share the same design, but there may be an additional opportunity for a model if they are the same! (and one which would appeal to steam era modellers as well.....) Kind Regards Richard. Quote
Richard EH Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Had a closer look and the hopper does seem very similar, the axles/supports look more modern, not a surprise I guess... oh, and order placed as well, good luck with the project! Richard. Quote
Garfield Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hi Richard, Unfortunately they are quite different designs... Thanks for the order. Quote
robbieb Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Order placed, good luck with project, looking forward to seeing the finished wagons. Quote
Richard EH Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 oh well! Another cunning plan, dashed!! Clearly you've looked into it in some detail=D Kind Regards Richard. Hi Richard, Unfortunately they are quite different designs... Thanks for the order. Quote
DiveController Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 at the moment, we're not VAT registered, so the price is 'as is' without VAT at this time. That'll be a disappointment for those based outside the EU to have to pay taxes there. However, I understand why you are not with this initial level of activity. If you're in talks with any model shops to stock products, a VAT registered model shop might provide a way to circumvent this, as it would be a recurring issue with future releases. Quote
BosKonay Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Hi DC There is no vat on the initial price so no one is paying any tax at the moment on the sale price. Quote
DiveController Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Hi DC There is no vat on the initial price so no one is paying any tax at the moment on the sale price. Oh wow! Misunderstood you on that, Stephen. Apologies! (Hope it can stay that way, not for profit or whatever) Quote
DiveController Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Yip, exact same. Snapper posted some great photos, http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/536-Gypsum-Wagons-(PWD) another market for the decal wizards! Like Eamonn, I would be interested in a rake of 15 as gypsums. Without sounding like an ingrate, is there any option to finish some of these wagons as RTR gypsums with correct running numbers, "gypsum only" signage? Quote
BosKonay Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 At the moment, the only concrete plan is an initial run as Ballast. We're exploring options to make the model and chassis as flexible as possible for future runs, but you can certainly buy them 'as they come' and apply decals / make changes in the mean time Quote
Warbonnet Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Good morning everyone! Thank you to everyone who has placed and order with us so far. As a treat here's a glimpse at the latest CAD. Still some corrections required but it's almost there! We would also like to remind you that we'll be at stand 22 at the exhibition in Blackrock this Saturday and Sunday to talk about the project and take orders. Finally, we are also running a competition! We're giving away a pack of three ballast wagons to anyone who has placed an order between our launch last week and this Sunday before 11pm. All you have to do is place an order with us before 11pm on Sunday if you haven't already. The winner will then be announced on Monday. Good Luck! www,irishrailwaymodels.com Quote
John-r Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi guys, Probably a silly question and covered elsewhere ,but I have to ask, Will the wagons come already numbered,so if you buy 2/3 packs you have Same numbers or a transfer pack for different numbers, looks a winner. Quote
Glenderg Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Yes, John, they will come already numbered, out of a shortlist of 12 running numbers. We're trying to organise the manufacture in such a way that different numbers will be available. DJM have indicated that factory produced and user applied decals is not a recommended solution from his past experience. Richie. Quote
Weshty Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 No minor exaggeration to say that for Irish RTR Freight this is akin to the launch of the 141 and the Craven. Bespoke RTR with an Irish focus. Roll on.... Quote

It seems like it may not be advisable to try to convert them to a rake of gypsums then? Quote
Garfield Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 It seems like it may not be advisable to try to convert them to a rake of gypsums then? What Richie meant was that we won't be going for the option of mixing self-applied decals with factory-applied prefixes. There's nothing to stop modellers renumbering them... Quote
Glenderg Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 They are identical wagons. I've even been asked by a customer to convert a rake to gypsum wagons. It involves no more than removing a few decals, replacing it with those from your favourite irish decal supplier, and painting the release wheels in the same bauxite that the wagons will come in. I'll even do tutorial on how do every variant possible with the chassis, magnasite included. Quote

While the magnesite might be doable from these wagons, it would involve a lot of work.... Quote
fishplate7 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Congratulations to everyone involved with this venture. Looks fantastic! Will have to take the turnstile off the wallet this weekend in Blackrock and order myself some. Eamonn Quote
Garfield Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 It's competition time, folks! Roll up, roll up... Quote

Am currently formulating a scheme...I'll know more about it Sunday when I speak to a specialist. and dolomite and gypsum should be easy converts. Quote

richrua Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 mine are gonna be gypsums. however, i am interested in the above conversion for unicorn traffic. Were the unicorns destined for Phoenix Park or Waterford for the livestock market in the middle east ? Quote
jhb171achill Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Some were indeed, Richrua! Others were en route from Timoleague Unicorn Farm in West Cork to Spa Halt, on the Ballynahinch branch of the BCDR..... Maybe I should get out more? Quote
jhb171achill Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I'll order 119 of those, Bosk! But only with DCC, and full air conditioning. Quote
