An enjoyable evening was had operating the various trains on Tara junction,

  • 085 arrives from North-wall with the BELL/ bulk cement liner where a crew change will take place
  • 190+184 depart with the superb bogie keg liner,
  • 220 departs from the platform hauling a Mk 3 push pull set,
  • 4001+216 arrive at the platform with a Cork-Heuston service, 216 was recently fitted with a Real Drive sound chip by Mr Sound guy and sounds fantastic.
  • 156+160 pass through non-stop while working a Cravens set

Enjoy.

The superbly detailed Cowans & Sheldon breakdown crane from Bachmann is seen here in position at the permanent way sidings, it is currently being used for staff refresher training on the re-railing of the bogie flat wagon and 141 class locomotive 161.

  • 3 weeks later...

In a multi million euro investment the Lakeview rail freight depot has been been expanded with more space for storage of containers,It currently caters for up to sixty containers of various sizes,

It now has more space for storing Guinness, fertilizer, and cement both in pallets and in bulk powder form,

An extra loop/siding has been installed and concreted into place which will allow for the loading of timber trains,

Two new Hyster 16 ton forklift trucks LV1 & LV2 have been purchased and will be for unloading the Guinness, fertilizer pallets,

Here are a selection of photographs of the unloading of the new forklifts and a night time scene as the BELL liner arrives behind 085 ready to be unloaded with the reach stacker under the new floodlighting tower lights

Enjoy....

A new designated timber loading area was marked out at the west end of the Lakeview rail freight yard,

Here are a selection of photos of the gradual stockpiling of logs to the stack

When the timber train has been 'loaded' the area can be moved out of the way-its a movable diorama.....!!!!

The timber contractor has recently taken delivery of a brand new 202 registered Scania tractor unit which is well fit to haul the heavy timber log loads

Another bundle of joy arrived last week, and another big congratulations are in order to the lads at IRM.

A selection of photographs taken earlier at a busy Lakeview rail freight yard sees retro liveried locomotive 071 arrive from the MPD after refueling to work the bogie spoil train consisting of spent ballast from the recently extended freight yard and some life expired concrete sleepers,

The fourth photo shows the interior of the cement/fertilizer store which has been fitted with interior lighting-it has really added to the scene,

Forklifts LV1 and LV2 are busy loading cement and Guinness kegs while the bulk cement bubbles are unloaded,

Pictures speak louder than words.....enjoy....

As always, superb.

I love the sense of a big city commotion, hustle & bustle, and sheer busy-ness that this layout oozes with.

Its like an afternoon at Heuston or Connolly in 1972 - there’s something going on in every corner, no matter where you look!

Cheers and thank you JHB- see you soon....

Agree 100%. Love details like the hoses connected to the bubbles, and the FL6 HGV.  The spoils looks great with loads and being visually toned down. Its train town supreme at Tara.

Love what you've done with the yard Noel. The fertiliser store really finishes things off nicely.

IRM seem to have invaded north wall. Fabulous scenes as ever, like the loads in the shed and all the action, I can hear the sound of a busy yard in my head. The rake of 9 bachmann IR mk2a coaches looks spectacular in the background.

A Saturday afternoon of some passenger train action on Tara junction involving some Cravens, Mk2, Mk2 A/B and Mk3 push pull rolling stock and 071, 201 2x141/181s locomotives.

Thanks to a good friend who was in charge of operations as I took the video from a different angle and to our dog who wanted to chase the Mk2 A/B set....
