Shinkansen Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 112 looks pretty tasty hauling those Mk3's alright. Contrasting blue n orange is a great combo! Good to see the layout is progressing well. Best of luck with it and keep posting pics. Out of interest... what did you decide regarding DCC controllers in the end... did ya go for the NCE powercab? I remember this being discussed ages ago on the forum. Cheers, Tom Quote
krose Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Looking good 201bhoy. I've been meaning to start my layout but it hasn't happened yet. So I'm drawing inspiration from yours, gonna make a start in the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to seeing this layout progress, with particular interested in the motorway scene. Keep up the good work. 👍 Quote
John-r Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hi 201bhoy, Very enjoyable thread, your making great progress. Can I ask a question,? What make and were did you get your mk3 coaches and genny van from They really look the part, thanks in advance Cheers. John Quote
ttc0169 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Progressing well Vincent-look forward to more updates. Quote
201bhoy Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks a lot guys! Tom, I'm getting the Prodigy Express I think, suits my layout the best. Krose, unfortunately I might not have room for the motorway bridge as it looks like it's gonna be too wide. John-r, I got my mk3s from Barl on this site, think the genny van is Weshty's kit but you'd have to ask him to be certain! Quote
Kirley Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 After all your detailed planning I'm sure it is a great feeling to have some track down and training running. As regard to 'concreting' check out You Tube, and Woodcraft Scenic also do a video. If you have any queries please PM me and I'll help if I can. Quote
Barl Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 John-r, I got my mk3s from Barl on this site, think the genny van is Weshty's kit but you'd have to ask him to be certain! The layout is coming along nicely Vincent:) You're right about the genny van, it was an SSM kit as were the decals on the coaches. As for the concrete areas, I've been doing something very similar to Kirley (maybe not quite as well though) over the last few days but I've just been using standard filler. Its not finished yet but I'm pleased with how its turned out so far, I'll try post some pics soon! Quote
BosKonay Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Nothing like having power on and locos running :) Well done and keep the updates coming Quote
201bhoy Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks lads! Kirley and Barl, love both your concrete areas, really look the part! Quote

Looking forward to seeing more updates as work progresses. Thanks Josefstadt! To be honest, I'm just a tiny bit sad it's got to this stage, no more chopping and changing now, which I always enjoyed But can't wait for DCC! Quote
RedRich Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks Josefstadt! To be honest, I'm just a tiny bit sad it's got to this stage, no more chopping and changing now, which I always enjoyed But can't wait for DCC! That will change pretty soon Vincent when DCC operations start on the layout. This where the real fun begins. Rich, Quote

201bhoy Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks guys! Next step is to get 112 chipped and then get the freight yard concreted, ready for the arrival of the container crane! Quote
201bhoy Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Happy Christmas guys! Unfortunately very little has happened on the layout since I posted last, but santy was generous to me, with three model shop pocket wagons and two mk2s,5210 and 5217, arriving under the tree! Here's some poor pics and a video anyway! Quote
ttc0169 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 The double stacked containers remind me of Ballina freight yard when the gantry crane was there, nice work Vincent. Quote
Dave Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Just read this thread from the start, you have the makings of a fine layout. Very well planned. The pocket wagons look great. Did you get a container crane yet? Quote
201bhoy Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks lads! It's annoying when I look back at last year and nothing is really done. No Dave, I haven't got the crane yet, I hope to soon though 😊 Quote
