They used standard trailer markings for the sides yellow / green and for the rear red both come in right/ left as used on HGV's in Ireland.

They arrived in Ireland in mid 1979 going into service soon afterwards they last ran in revenue earning service in Dec 2009 so about 30 years . Hope we see a model of them from IRM at some stage .

The chevron is actually a trailer end/rear chevron as fitted to a road trailer the running on the road at Dublin port .

Allegedly the ESSO wagons being imported from the UK in the early 1970's came complete with overhead wire warning plates thus being the first rolling stock in Ireland to carry them even though we didnt get our first overhead wires until 1981!

Great pictures . I think it was built in the early 1970's to coincide with the arrival of the Mk2D stock from BR and use and maintenance of train sets of them .

The return springs which attach to the coupler maybe disconnected you would have to remove the bogie and see an reattach them if necessary.

You never know they both possibly have a secret stash of Murphy Models locos that they can sell off if their business empires fall on hard times .

I dont agree its a free market if someone wants to sell a loco a whatever price they want good luck to them and if somebody wants to pay it good luck to them too . I recently sold some locos to a new member here at a reasonable price and was glad to help somebody out coming into the hobby but that was my choice . Thats the beauty of the free market . As the this thread title suggests buy the A class now at a good price .

202 was involved in a collision with BGM 182 in the late 90’’s 182 had a buffer replaced and 202 had front end damage resulting in a repair and repaint at one end.

Well when my time comes to shuffle off this mortal coil my A class will be coming in the big box with me !
