  1. As the lads have already pointed out, the sweeping curves look the bees knees!
  2. That makes for an encouraging read, Bosko. Long may the site continue to grow!
  3. Hmm, may head up to this...

    Gaa

You'd never know from Cluxton's dour victory speech... Great game, though. Mayo threw it away in the first half.
  5. The one thing about Flight Fest was that the more nimble aircraft (the Vans team, Strikemaster, Sabre and Hunter in particular) weren't allowed to demonstrate their aerobatic capability. Salthill was great as the flight line was over the sea, so that wasn't an issue, and led to top class acts like the Red Arrows and Thunderbirds appearing to strut their stuff. I also remember Tomcats, Hornets and Vikings showing up the year the JFK docked in Dublin... Bray is a poor substitute as fast jets can't show off because Bray Head is in the way...
  6. Nice shots. Can't believe the cab logo is already looking worn, though!
  7. This layout is fast becoming one of my favourites here. Great work!
  8. Good stuff, John. Definitely interested in a few of these kits.
  9. Looks like an excellent project... any more photos?
  10. Fantastic!
  11. They cost a hell of a lot of money to stage. Amongst other things, insurance is insane and exhibitors ain't cheap... even smaller jets like the F-86 and Hunter cost hundreds per hour in fuel alone. Military exhibitors, even foreign ones, can cost a lot less as their appearances are often a goodwill gesture, but there's no guarantee you can confirm them, and even if you do, they can often cancel for 'operational reasons'. A good thing was kicking off with the Air Spectaculars at Baldonnel just over a decade or so ago, but after the last one was held some military operators filed complaints... their maintenance crews found crisp packets and other rubbish stuffed into air intakes after people wandered past the fencing unchecked.
  12. German, eh? There's a good chance that they're three of the Venoms built under licence for the Swiss Air Force, and that the RAF emblem isn't genuine.
  13. This is looking like a fantastic project... can't wait for the next update. PS: Love the Gleismac!
  14. Holy. Moly. Venoms! How did three of them get there!?
  15. A recent photo of the derailed Class 66: http://www.flickr.com/photos/svqmedia/9761526413/lightbox/ Looks like most of its major components have been removed.
  16. Excellent photos, Wanderer. Loved the roar from the Hunter and Sabre.
  17. Excellent pics from the day taken by The Wanderer. Link in his forum post here: http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2372-Flightfest?p=35323#post35323
  18. Reading through this thread again, it's amazing how many of us here are also aviation nuts!
  19. Fantastic line-up. In addition to the aircraft already mentioned, I loved the Hunter and Sabre, Catalina and B-17, and the Air Corps put on a great show too... especially the fly-past with both Casas and the PC9s (that one was memorable).
  20. The GSR Pullmans?
  21. Strange, it wasn't there when I checked it earlier. Anyway, it'll be nice to see one over Dublin! Fingers crossed the weather holds out!
  22. Aye... best stay in the south of the Liffey if you don't want to be blinded by the sun! Really wanted to see the Vulcan, too. However, the A380 has disappeared from the website but is still being advertised on the radio ads, so maybe... just maybe!
  23. There sure is, but it's a fly-past as opposed to an air show: http://www.flightfest.ie/ Some tasty stuff participating, including a B-17 Flying Fortress, F-86 Sabre, Hawker Hunter, and restored Air Corps Chipmunks. Unfortunately, previously listed aircraft like the Avro Vulcan, Spitfire and A380 appear to have cancelled.
  24. Looks good so far... another thread to keep a close eye on!
  25. And then the Irish Times publishes this on Friday: http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/transport-and-tourism/french-operator-looks-to-irish-rail-to-make-savings-and-improve-reliability-1.1509990 'French operator looks to Irish Rail to make savings and improve reliability' (A flawed exercise if you ask me...)
