minister_for_hardship Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Have an MRNCC one and it's cast iron. Would doubt they would fit lowly wagons with brass plates, brass is usually reserved for loco worksplates and the odd carriage plate but I have been surprised before. Hard to tell from pic if brass or just painted with gold paint. Need to see 'in the flesh'. Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 The UTA one is most certainly a dud. They painted numbers on wagons and never cast NCC-style plates. http://www.irishrailwayana.com/uta2686L.jpg Maybe in early UTA days, they ran off a few, before they decided to paint them on for cost cutting? As I said back then, this looked as close as one could get to Irish RTR model stock. Quote

Noel Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 In my humble experience Lima locomotives do not make good paper weights. That price seems totally daft. I wouldn't take one of those for free. Lima 201 v MM 201 = Lada v Audi Quote

My feeble Hornby set...20 yrs.old pales in comparison to prices like that! But I do love Irish Rail! Yes it is, for less than half that price you could buy a superb running newer version of the Murphy Model 201 with all wheel pickup and all wheel drive (e.g. €150-170), far superior to the poor Lima toy. http://www.themodelshop.ie/model-railways/irish-railways/irish-locomotives/murphy-models-class-201-diesel-8208-river-lagan-ie-enterprise-new.html Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I contacted him when he first posted it on eBay, I think this is the 3rd listing for it Sent him a link to a similar Lima 201 that sold for £60. He thanked me and said he got big money for one in the past I sent him a link to MM and explained the reason why the arse had fallen out of the Lima 201's But would he listen....... Quote

It is a good thing in one sense as a rigid all wheel drive can sometimes be a bit problematic for anyone modelling in the correct gauge. A lot of BR modellers that model in P4 have had some problems with the Bachmann class 47. Rich, Quote
