WRENNEIRE Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 The joys of the Internet Spent some time trawling through some weird and wonderful, and some not so wonderful, websites thanks to Covid One was one that I had bought some bits off long ago and I said I would give it a go. I put in BexleyModels.Com instead of .co.uk , Jesus Mary and Joseph got the shock of my life, I didnt know men could be that well endowed! Visited another obscure Italian site and low and behold look what turned up. I have one in a freight set but I had never seen a single boxed example before The famous Sundries wagon in N gauge So it fits nicely into the 32 04XX range Ramseys have it catalogued under Long Wheelbase Refrigerator Van but with no Catalogue number Happy Christmas me! 10 Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted May 17, 2022 Author Posted May 17, 2022 On the subject of Sundries wagons I picked up this O Gauge one recently in an attic clear out Research would suggest that up until '82 Lima used a 4 digit reference for their models which would be 6711 for this wagon, however after '82 they began to appear with a 2 digit prefix, 30 for OO gauge and now 31 for O gauge. Its the first 6 digit reference I have seen for O Gauge, anyone else have anything similar I believe they all came in the stone effect box rather than the older orange and blue ones Wagon is upside down to display the broken wheel! 5 Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted May 18, 2022 Author Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) Some more useless information Lima 305346W Green Mk1 with Flying snail 2nd pic shows 6 digit reference number versus 4 digit( bought in the real capitol!) and the boxes they appear on 3rd pic shows different coloured roofs, I checked both my collection and the ones I have for sale and this difference is constant on them all, sorry to bother you with this but just adds another anomaly to the Lima history. murphaph Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Thanks Mark. I wasn't aware of that thread. I was wondering more about the background of the model however . I should have been more specific. I was wondering is it from a kit or scratch built etc. 1 Quote

Niles Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 (edited) I was going through some of my own gear last night and copped that my Lima 206 (which I intend on changing to 209 but as an aside) box actually has Paddy Murphy's signature on the label, had it ages and only twigged. Wonder what the story there is... (not posting a photo as I'm not wild about putting people's signatures up online for obvious reasons...) Edited May 12, 2023 by Niles 2 1 Quote

Why 209? When I was 12 a kindly NIR driver invited me up to its cab in Connolly and its been my 'favourite' 201 ever since. We shall see... Edited May 12, 2023 by Niles 1 Quote

MM4110 IE MM4108 IE MM4101 IR 4102IR Hi Dave, harking back to this post from quite a while ago, these coaches were sold in shrink wrapped twin packs and just one running number is advertised on the exterior of each pack. So do you know the running numbers of the second coach in each pack? I have pack MM4101 and that contained coach no 4101 & 4108 with IR logos. But since there is a pack numbered 4108 with the IE logo, that would seem to indicate a repeat of the numbers in the different logos. I ask this in the context of the imminent release of the IRM MK2B & C coaches which are complimentary. Thank you Tom Quote

steventrain Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) I have look at two version of R768. Pat Hammond the story of rovex Vol.3 wrote 'Two different versions of the model have been reported and this could be accounted for by their having been made in two batches, one of 300 sole models in 1977 and the others in sets in 1981. One has the original cast metal motor bogie and black buffer beams while the other has the Ringfield motor bogie and red buffer beams.' I found one unboxed Ringfield motor version. Locomotive operation manual date 1980 showing R768 CIE, also same model R335 but in Two tone green livery. Edited February 6 by steventrain 3 2 1 Quote

Late coming to the party on this thread, this is one of the 1977 cast metal bogie versions I still have, I remember retaining and then weathering the chassis and under frames around 1978, because the day glow orange plastic was hideously bright and not CIE tan at all. As it was 1978 it was brush repainted by this then impatient teen. Nostalgia memory but those motor bogies were truly awful and unreliable runners from the tri-ang stable. Great find though and thanks for posting As its nostalgia day today here was my entire collection of Irish stock in the 1970s, top Lima BR mk1 coaches pretending to be some Irish coach, below the Hornby 'Slainte Express' or whatever they called it with the Hymek and Br Mk2 coaches in dayglo orange. I could not stomach the shiny chrome window frame paint so over painted with matt black paint to tone the coaches down a bit. Some old Rover/Tri-Ang tooled station buildings of that era too. Quote
