I think the bank balance will take hit fellow modellers, given how IRM happily sell the packs of everything then surely the holy grail will be  three RPSI locos in one pack for £1000 ( 4/85/131) . followed  up with 3 jeep packs to celebrate the rtr spoil wagon now I have 12 in a rake ready for a loco or three.

I still think the Ballymena & Larne would make a worthwhile subject.

Has anyone produced a 4mm model of the early Isle of Man 2-4-0T locos in rtr format?  The two B&L 2-4-0T are pretty close to the 1st batch of IOM locos, the Manx and Irish 3' gauge just does not appear to have a similar level of interest to OO9 although the Peco HO/m track system has been about for the best part of 20 years.

Seems to be considerable demand for OO9 locos and stock with Bachmann's large collection of OO9 locos and stock and one off items by Heljan and Peco/Kato.

Sort of...

The Oxford rail model is a static die-cast, but looks good. It's also a somewhat later type.

Isle of Man Rly loco 12. Hutchinson. Oxford Diecast 1:76. loft railway.

If you put one in a sandwich bag it's ideal for an early 21st century Douglas shed diorama.

The thing to note is that the two Ballymena Beyers were both different,No 1 had the small tanks similar to IOM 1-3 whereas No 4 had the larger tanks like 10-13.The problem with the Oxford model is motorising it without damaging the paintwork which probably the best thing about it when viewed close up. Sorry, I think I got a J26 mixed up with a J27, that does indeed look similar, but Accurascale/IRM are unlikely to indulge in re-use of a tooling. They would end up producing models that are as expensive as the original, but inaccurate to Irish or British prototypes. They could reuse some aspects of the tooling, but they would have to simplify and modify the tooling to the point where they could just have made a new tooling in less time.

coming from someone with zero experience of modelmaking, just to clarify.

Id be very surprised if the chassis of both were bang on identical. They're bound to have some differences, wheels bigger or smaller, or spaced differently, or different number of spokes. I don't think it's a clue at all.

The one clue I can see in their release is it may be a preserved RPSI loco, quite possibly one active currently or in recent years.

In light of Shapeways going under I wonder if we had some one who could produce 3D print bodies to fit certain RTR chassis Just like we do in the 009 World with Whitemetal / Brass / 3D prints that are currently on offer:-

Yes I am awaiting a reply from etropal since all his bits are or were on Shapeways
