All the clichés in one...... RUC vans, young lads with petrol bombs, British army jeeps, the works.......while a 2.6.4T (real!) Jeep made its way past with a ballast train, and an AEC set pottered through in the other direction on the 11:15 to Londonportadown..... If the newsagent was selling 'The Portadown News' they would also have to sell 'The Portadown Times' , 'The Banbridge Chronicle' and 'The Lurgan Mail'. 2 Quote
Popular Post The Derry Road Posted July 19, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) Hi All A further update showing the latest additions to the fleet, A rake of Dapol modified tanks to x 13 molasses tanks pulled by 036 revealing 8 new MIR bogie ballast wagons. I’ve also replaced the dummy signals on the station side with new working colour light signals made from brass rod, strip, wire and ladders with the 3 aspect heads from Berko and Railtech, ground shunt, theatre and route indicators, hoping to connect to the panel this weekend. Some pictures showing the changes to the yard too with two new hoists, fuel point and tank in place. I have to thank Geoff Johnston for providing the old style NIR logos for the two blue hunsletts all three hunslets are are running well with sound added to all three, There is also some pics showing the inside of the signal box and shed. Popular Post The Derry Road Posted December 7, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted December 7, 2023 Hi everyone, just a quick update on the layout. I have been putting this on the back burner for a while and finally picked up the nerve to give it a go, having watched several videos, this is the results so far. There is still lots to do to the river and the waterfalls to achieve the finish i'm after. The pictures show the last two days attempts thus far. Enjoy TDR 14 8 Quote
Galteemore Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Know what you mean about nerves. But this is just great - well done! 1 Quote

Enjoy TDR OMG - Or as Miley Byrne might say 'well holy God'. Sublime scenic effects and clever use of spatial effects. Torc waterfall eat your heart out. Stunning. It looks so real it could be 1:1 scale. 1 Quote

The Derry Road Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago THE END OF THE LINE Hi everyone Is this literally the end of the line, I started this layout in February 2014, and it has taken me until May 2014, so ten years to get to where it currently is now. It was controlled by a H&M Duette controller wired for cab control via 18 DPDT switches, in April 2017 I took the plunge and switched to DCC and didn’t look back. In 2024 I became gradually quite unwell resulting in being Hospitalised over Christmas and New Year, resulting in an illness that has left me with serious mobility issues, as a result I am giving serious consideration to dismantling the layout and getting a new layout on the ground floor. Plans have already being drew up. So this is probably the last posting for this layout. I have added some pictures taken today by my daughter showing the start and the end of its construction. Thanks to anyone who followed or showed interest in its development over the years. Regards Ray 10 2 Quote
