WT CLASS 2-6-4T No. 4 Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Hi Enniscorthyman, nice work there. What are the dimensions of the cement bubble? as they aren't legible on the drawings that I downloaded from this site. I have a woodturning friend who has offered to make some if I can provide him with the dimensions. Thanking you in advance, Walter. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 Good man Eamonn, looks the business. Rich, Thanks Rich, good to hear from you again. Quote

All I can tell you is that the bubble body's are about 6mm in length. Quote

enniscorthyman Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Thanks. Sorry Walter the 6mm should be 60mm. I can be a danger to myself when behind a keyboard. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 I got a delivery of 10 prestwin units so these will be used on my cement bubbles. I plan to build 10 first and finish off the last few at so other stage with a total of 15.I built my own pipe area with some brass wire and a part from the prestwin kit.Its not quite right when compared to the MIR bubble, but I am happy with it. I got a couple of these Dapol rtr 11 ton chassis which will be used on my IFM cements.Although not quite as good in detail as the prestwin chassis, they run very well and have NEM pockets. I put this signal together with bits left over from SSM kits. Quote
Seanw12 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Looks like you will be busy ,where did you get the bubble ? Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Looks like you will be busy ,where did you get the bubble ? A Mate who is handy at wood turning did a batch for me. Quote

enniscorthyman Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Wow they look very good,I need to get a bubble myself as I have a bought a prestwin kit myself As I had lots of spare unused prestwin parts, that why I had a go at building a bubble as cheaply as possible, only Sean you will have only one ladder that comes with the prestwin kit,but you do need two ladders for the bubble. Weshty Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Looks like you will be busy ,where did you get the bubble ? Sean, this may be of assistance in construction. http://newirishlines.org/2009/06/19/scratch-building-a-cie-cement-bubble/ Though the modern Kinder egg may not be of much use as they have changed the design a bit. Love the signal Eamon!! Quote
RedRich Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 You're keeping busy Eamonn, looking good. As Des has said the signal looks sweet. You must be getting a nice suntan with the good weather when working. Rich, Quote

enniscorthyman Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 Just finished 4 IFM cement wagons,so I will have a nice rake of ten. I weathered one wagon a bit,so delighted with them, now to get the layout going (again) in the attic. I finished off the short wheel base an post transit (SSM decals). The ESB transit is by "Model Shop" with a few ladders I added myself from the young lads broken die-cast fire engines. Quote
Broithe Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Very nice. Three points, though. 1, You might distress the mirrors on the vans, few of them get very far without hitting something. 2, If you want some finer chain for the cement wagon, you could ask your Domestic Supervisor for her advice. 3, It wouldn't hurt to have a little bit of track on that railing for future photo opportunities. I have knocked off mirrors from the Transits a few times-they are very fragile.Yes some finer chains in the future when I come across them. When I get back to the layout in the attic(its in bits at the mo)I will use a proper backdrop, although the outdoor photos do show more detail and any flaws:doh: Quote
ttc0169 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Lovely work Eamonn, they will look great on your layout. Quote
popeye Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Love the vans really nice. The wagons are great, you can get fine chain from Langley Models 30 in long 27 links per inch £3.40. Does anybody know if these cement wagons came up to the north to Belfast ? Quote

Does anybody know if these cement wagons came up to the north to Belfast ? The cement wagons look good with a nice touch of weathering. Both types of cement wagons came north to Adelaide back in the good old days of freight. Quote
popeye Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Thank's for that info. Just found more chain even finer 33 links per inch x 1 meter £7.90 from Cambrian Models. Would anyone have a picture of these cement wagons in an ulster location ? Edited July 12, 2014 by popeye Quote
Irishrailwayman Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Busy workbench as always with some great results streaming through! Quote
David Holman Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Wagons and trannies all fab. Just after I left college in the mid 70s was doing driving jobs in London to earn summer beer money. One trip was to deliver paint to the Houses of Parliament. OK, it was the summer recess, so nobody was about, but security was noticeable by its absence & took me ages to find where they wanted the goods. Wouldn't get within 100 metres today of course, but on the way out, totalled the wing mirror against the wall of the archway exit. Nobody noticed and it was my only day with the firm so never knew what they thought... Quote
enniscorthyman Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 I started this little display unit in May and built it with bits and bobs that I had around the place.I plan to show her off at a vintage day in September with sound chipped 071,201,001 and 141s with cement, beet wagons and perhaps a short craven and BR van.Anyway some photos and video- Quote
