Looking forward to this one. Hope it's as good as the Branchline Explorer back in April. The sing song session in the bar coach on the way home with a hellfire run from 086 as the light faded and the bar ran out of draft beer. Cracking day.

Me too! 131!

Agree. We did our first RPSI rail tour last October and quite enjoyed it, but personally diesel locos were not an attraction. One of the entertaining aspects of the rail tour was watching the 'paparazzi' in action whizzing up and down platforms and foot bridges chasing loco movements. Hopefully if there is a long steam tour next spring or summer we might give that a try.

A single day or a multi day? For multi day there is the May tour. Long single day by steam is a bit more complicated due to drivers hours, but Connolly to Rosslare is a nice day.

I am really looking forward to both, but its a long time since I heard the hum of a baby gm 😀

Is anybody running a 'book' on wither RPSI or MM will be first with 121 class? :) :)

simultaneous release anybody      :trains:

That would be something, perhaps MM releasing and selling them onboard the first RPSI 134 rail tour.

PS: For a rail tour with 8 or 9 coaches would 134 need to double head with B141 to manage the load?

Not if running to steam timings like loco 461. In saying that I was volunteering on the recent Boyne tour with No4 hauling 7 plus van and it easily maintaining 70mph from the GPS on my phone. Its a great kettle.

In saying that 121s struggled to keep time with crush loaded 6 piece push pulls in the 90s on Dublin to Drogheda runs.

Have to agree Railer it was a fantastic day out, made all the better by the 3 locos on duty that day. Really looking forward to this one myself :)

I was going to head out to Watch this coming through Cork and back from Cobh but I looking at the weather forecast I will leave this to more Hardly Photographers and enjoy their pictures instead and do some circuits of the Isle of Man TT course on PS4 in the Warmth of me gaf.

Great to see and sample 216 out to and returned from Maynooth last Saturday-the draught Guinness on tap was delicious too.....

Here we see 216 shortly after arrival at Connolly station with the last train from Maynooth and will shortly propel the train out to the wash road and later into the depot for overnight storage.

Evening all,

The latest update to the December gallery has just been published. Featuring:

Saturday 15th December 2018:
A day spent on the Maynooth Line photographing the RPSI Santa Specials and travelling on the 3rd trip of the day, which due to the problems No. 4 had on the 2nd trip was worked by Belmond Grand Hibernian liveried 216. On a side note the 30 minute interval service on the Maynooth line is very welcome for hopping between stations.

Sunday 16th December 2018:
On Sunday morning I travelled up from Greystones to Dublin before catching some Green Line LUAS photos in between the Christmas Shopping.

Due to delays with Brexit the light engine move north for 85 has been postponed for March 24th.

Is it not a bit presumptuous to cancel the move when an extension to the Brexit process has yet to be approved? 🤔

Sorry I have not updated here in a while, things in the real world kind of took over for a while like they have a tendency to do.
Could one of the mods change the title to something like "RPSI Operations" and I will continue to post here instead opening a new thread.

Agreements have been reached outside of Brexit that allow the continued use of 85 south of the boarder for now.

If you started the thread, I think you can change the title yourself - try hovering the cursor over it...

Anyone in the know, know what the locos are for the double head? Last I heard, it was to be 078+082 leading out of Connolly.

The double is still planned for 078 + 082

Hope it stays that way.

Them two are the loudest 071s IMO, 082 has it's unique noise for many years but 078 also sounds great since it's overhaul after being stored for a number of years. Can't wait for the noise up the gullet on Saturday morning.
