Railer Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) Looking forward to this one. Hope it's as good as the Branchline Explorer back in April. The sing song session in the bar coach on the way home with a hellfire run from 086 as the light faded and the bar ran out of draft beer. Cracking day. Edited October 4, 2018 by Railer 2 Quote

We did our first RPSI rail tour last October and quite enjoyed it, but personally diesel locos were not an attraction. Hopefully if there is a long steam tour next spring or summer we might give that a try. Quote

Long single day by steam is a bit more complicated due to drivers hours, but Connolly to Rosslare is a nice day. Railer Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) Not if running to steam timings like loco 461. In saying that I was volunteering on the recent Boyne tour with No4 hauling 7 plus van and it easily maintaining 70mph from the GPS on my phone. Its a great kettle. In saying that 121s struggled to keep time with crush loaded 6 piece push pulls in the 90s on Dublin to Drogheda runs. Edited October 4, 2018 by Railer Quote

ttc0169 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Great to see and sample 216 out to and returned from Maynooth last Saturday-the draught Guinness on tap was delicious too..... Here we see 216 shortly after arrival at Connolly station with the last train from Maynooth and will shortly propel the train out to the wash road and later into the depot for overnight storage. thewanderer Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Evening all, The latest update to the December gallery has just been published. Featuring: Saturday 15th December 2018: A day spent on the Maynooth Line photographing the RPSI Santa Specials and travelling on the 3rd trip of the day, which due to the problems No. 4 had on the 2nd trip was worked by Belmond Grand Hibernian liveried 216. On a side note the 30 minute interval service on the Maynooth line is very welcome for hopping between stations. Sunday 16th December 2018: On Sunday morning I travelled up from Greystones to Dublin before catching some Green Line LUAS photos in between the Christmas Shopping.
