leslie10646 Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Good luck with the "Knitting", young man. I look forward to seeing how you cope trying to photograph trains under the wires - a perennial problem for enthusiasts of the 12 inches to the foot railway! Congratulations on a superb layout. Quote
warb Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 thanks leslie I have a feeling it will only be cosmetic regards warb Quote

David Holman Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Presumably, you don't take it with you on the bus, or do it while watching TV?! Rather fabulous though and so important to the overall scene. Quote

warb Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 I hate to mention the C word but yesterday with the help of some elves visitors dropped in on barrow street. Absolutely stunning work by IRM and all the staff involved, can't wait to get hold of these beauties and i'm tempted with a certain class 55 when you see it in the flesh on a rosslare run. Warbonnet Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Thanks very much for running our Locos on your layout @warb The pics do not do this layout justice, it's truly stunning and an absolute masterpiece. I thought the A looked right at home! Make sure you come along to the Blackrock show this weekend, we will have the A on display, along with the Crossley body too. We should have news on digital sound for the A very soon too! Cheers, Fran 7 1 Quote
connollystn Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Ah! Just the way I remember the A Class - hauling Craven Coaches and Fertilizer wagons. Brings me back to my youth (which was an extremely long time ago). Very impressive model on a just as impressive layout. Quote

GNRi1959 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Nothing pleases me more than following the detail and progress Warb. A layout that must be seen Quote
David Holman Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Great to see general pics of the layout, not surprised IRM wanted to show their locos on it. A fine combination! As for the Deltic, growing up on the East coast main line at Newark, saw all of them, many times, in my spotting days and it was always a treat going to/from college in London to have a Deltic instead of the ubiquitous 47s. Most memorable run was on the Aberdeen mail out of Kings Cross. Loaded to 15 bogies, around 500 tons, it did Grantham to Newark (14 miles or so), in just over 12 minutes, start to stop. The howl of the twin engines going through Peascliffe tunnel from the first coach (window down of course!), was incredible. Was convinced it wasn't going to stop at Newark and I'd have to find my way back from Retford, but a very late brake application got me home. It was a fine piece of driving and the loco really must have been on the limit. Regularly timed them at over 100mph and seem to recall up to 110 wasn't unusual in Railway Magazine reports. 4 Quote

David Holman Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 May have said this before, but even so worth repeating. Fine details and big layouts don't always go together, but they do here! 2 Quote
