That seems expensive, even for an O gauge model, isn't it? How much did the models fetch when they were produced I wonder?

Limited edition, hard to find, Irish, O Gauge, Bassett Lowke. That's all the 'collectors bingo' lights lit up there. Still a tad overpriced mind!

It was definetly €30 when the link was put up Mr Wrenneire...

RS, yes it was listed earlier yesterday for GBP £20 hence conversion to about EU €29, but now its listed for EU €20. SeanW, is this ebay item one of your listings? As a donor for a respray it seems an ok price at €20 but the postage seems too high (i.e. 20+14=34).

Noel I think the postage, for me anyway is €4.00. But the actual cost of the mk2 was originally €30. Once when ebaying I saw a lovely old Dublo tank for €15 then when I checked the postage it was €18!

Use parcel motel.com

Saves a fortune in UK postage fees

Ditto Agree. Use it regularly for UK suppliers including Amazon, but watch out for Amazon splitting orders into multiple deliveries (x €4 each drop via PM)

GSR800, the coach is currently listed at €20 plus €14 for postage, but that may be a mistake on the listing as that seems to be the cost of shipping from Portlaoise to UK.

Very disappointing to see people hoard these for years for a few extra bucks. I'm sure there's many a modeler out there would like to have these to run on a layout but definitely not at that price !! Incidentally, the seller also only wishes to sell these Irish outline on the UK market!

Well its a free world so if somebody in the past up the cash to buy this stock in the first place, free enterprise gives them the perfect right to do with them as they please! :) Even like James May, who paid for the right to throw away the boxes of stock he bought at a specialist model railway auction on the recently posted BBC clip. (obviously deliberately done for dramatic programming reasons). Being the 'boffin' he is who likes vintage everything, I bet you in real life he keeps all his toy's boxes.

dont see anything wrong with keeping a model or two just for investment. I have a 141 in a box myself for such purposes. At the end of the day investor collectors also create market which allows us have these models rtr

There was 3 of the murphy coal wagons on one of the facebook selling pages for a TENNER a few weeks ago, a very nice bargain if there ever was one :o .

as for hoarding stock whats wrong with it, it creates demand which in turn may lead to more models been produced.
