jhb171achill Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 The economic situation? Green, grey and orange! Green for the green fields far away, grey for the colour of the inside of an empty wallet, and orange for the only thing in 2013's christmas stocking! :-) Quote
Glenderg Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 In management speak, it's probably meant to represent "dynamic, I-arnrod Appy, unification of old orange stock and modren green stock" when it really reads like two magnets in conflict, or two radioactive turd piles, or "irish rail is a giant pyramid scheme" or "irish rail is like two auld triangles", or a modernist interpretation of a carrot. Who knows what those clowns are up to. Quote
heirflick Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 i thought the company was in severe financial difficulty....why then would add to it by getting that logo? i can only assume that all the IE signs will be changed at every location - the cost would be hugh! no logic there at all.. Quote
thewanderer Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Rolling Stock will not be "rebranded" unless it is due a repaint. This is a "low cost" rebranding people! Quote
thewanderer Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Eighth The dunderhead who did this didn't check what the current stock is, nor how it would look. I believe this image is Wanderers from a few years ago, and so, M'lud, the prosecution rests its case. And if this ever makes it's way onto trains in Ireland, I'll buy everyone here a pint - better still, I'll get Dave Bracken to buy everyone a pint. Richie. I don't recognise it as mine and it isn't on my online images of 4004. Plus it looks like that was taken in Inchicore and I don't put Inchicore pictures online. Following I.E. guidelines. Quote
thewanderer Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Final post in this triple posting. I have heard the Eddie Stobart rumours but i'm putting it down to driver canteen talk. If it happens....and Stobart run "open access" freight trains...I'll eat my camera! Quote
Kirley Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I’m surprised that IE has not launched their new Logo in a blaze of publicity. What better way of confirming this change than by asking IE. After spending 10 minutes on their web site looking how or where to ask this question I fell back on the Heritage Section and emailed Gregg Ryan. Will let you know the response when I get it. My answer came today: "We will be rolling out our new logo across rolling stock, stations and other areas of branding in a low cost way as part of routine scheduled maintenance." So there you have it! Quote

Glenderg Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Seamus, there's nothing on the etenders website, and since it would be a public procurement contract, they are obliged to advertise it. Unless they've started making signs in Inchicore now... When does that Barry Kenny lad go on George Hook? Quote
BosKonay Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Total lunacy! Not enough in the bank to pay the wages (barely) and they throw cash at a rebrand! <boggle> Quote
jhb171achill Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 If they are putting that thing on rolling stock, maybe they could apply it to the underneath of the floor covering only? Or the back of one of the wheels? Quote
Broithe Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I still haven't had an answer to whether or not they are going to apply these 'targets' to the side of the Enterprise... Quote
Garfield Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Folks, as The Wanderer said... Rolling Stock will not be "rebranded" unless it is due a repaint. This is a "low cost" rebranding people! You can take that as fact. Quote

Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Time I think for IE to be sold off and privatised and the nutters in charge that are throwing money away to be put on the dole so they would get to learn how to budget the hard way. Quote

It's happening, the EU are making sure of that. It's only a question of when. Quote

Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) anthony, as a matter of interest, what is the financial state of NIR...is it making a profit or loss? Just did a little bit of digging on the net if you Google translink yourself Seamus you can have a good read. One fact I didn't realise is Translink only has 220 miles of track (small or what) here's some reading to get you started they are expected to make a loss over the next 3 years http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-17818243 Edited January 25, 2013 by Anthony Quote
islandbridgejct Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 You could make your own by folding some coloured paper. Iarnrod Eireann: the Origami Railway. Coming soon: build your own train from toilet rolls and sticky backed plastic. Alan Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Saw a pic of an 071 in new livery this evening Very dark shade of grey all over Silver cabs are gone Had a yellow flash like 112 on the front Logos were not fixed Might have a pic over the weekend Quote

Any word from your spies about the stored orange 201s? That were all out of the storage sidings when I went past Inchicore last week. Quote
Blu Bianco Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Coming soon: build your own train from toilet rolls and sticky backed plastic. Alan The railcars are here already!!!!!!!! Saw a pic of an 071 in new livery this eveningVery dark shade of grey all over Silver cabs are gone Had a yellow flash like 112 on the front Logos were not fixed Might have a pic over the weekend Doesn't sound too dynamic. I liked the freight livery, pity to see it go. The colour combination and contrasts made it stand out, like when they were orange and black. Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Have to agree with you Blu, looks loke a lazy mans effort at re liverying what was a lovely loco Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Dave are you sure she wasn't sitting in primer/under coat awaiting her final finished coat of paint Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Sounds almost like the livery applied to the "A" and "C" class in the sixties for a while - black all over with yellow patch on the front! (and white flash above cab). Will they prefix the "071", "080", "077" numbers with a letter again!!! (Which one? H?) Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Dave are you sure she wasn't sitting in primer/under coat awaiting her final finished coat of paint Wouldn't have thought the yellow would be on it if it was just primed. Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I suppose a half-baked livery option would fit well with that new logo! Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 At least it will be a new livery for Paddy to do too. Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Wouldn't have thought the yellow would be on it if it was just primed. I don't know Bud it's impossible to tell until we all see a photo I'm just guessing. Who's up for an SAS photo mission to Inchacore Quote

Warbonnet Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I don't know Bud it's impossible to tell until we all see a photo I'm just guessing. Who's up for an SAS photo mission to Inchacore True man, will be interesting to see. Will have to take a trip out when it escapes onto the mainline for a video if it is. Hopefully Dave will be secure the photo and share it. Also think it would be interesting if the new logo is being put on a 35 year old freight loco before anything else! Good to see money still being spent on the 071s. Airbrushes at the ready! Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 A return to GSR / CIE all over grey!! Quote
Mayner Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 A return to GSR / CIE all over grey!! I was thinking much the same myself, all you would need are small cast numberplates on the cab or large white or yellow numbers 670 Class style on the car body;) Quote
