Niles Posted yesterday at 09:55 Posted yesterday at 09:55 Busy first day, haven't had a chance to view everything. I'm floating between the Táilte Tours stand with @jhb171achill and the DCDR stand with @GSWR 90, so do say hi (good to meet a few members of this parish yesterday). 1
Killian Keane Posted yesterday at 14:18 Posted yesterday at 14:18 I found that extremely enjoyable, its great to have faces to put to so many names, the highlights for me included the gorgeous Tralee and Dingle tank in 15mm scale and the Lartigue layout 7 1
jhb171achill Posted yesterday at 14:49 Posted yesterday at 14:49 Saw that T & D yoke yesterday - very well built. It was a great day there yesterday and I was delighted to meet some of the newer names on here in person (and admire their layouts, in many cases), as well; as catching up with old colleagues like "Provincial" Leslie. Dempsey's Dundalk (Barrack St) goods yard and the compact but excellent Beaghnach End were particular delights, as were the larger ones - Dundalk featured strongly with the huge DDK Works layout a major attraction too. Now - someone I was talking to yesterday told me they were plnning a layout based on Birr, and I promised I would fishout some material that might be relevant; but I can't recall who it was. If you're reading this, ping me at jhb171@gmail.com. I'm not there today, but will be tomorrow. Need to buy a few bits! Massive congrats to SDMRC in setting this up. Absolutely superb show. 2
Newtoncork Posted yesterday at 16:59 Posted yesterday at 16:59 Had a great say out at the show yesterday. Herself even gave me some cash when I ran out. Good to see the hobby alive and well. 1 1

Flying Snail Posted yesterday at 19:02 Posted yesterday at 19:02 I had a very enjoyable afternoon in Blackrock. I didn't hammer the wallet too much but I bought the winning ticket for tomorrow's raffle as well as picking up one of JM Design's GSWR van kits from Leslie, and one of the SDMRC's special editions vans. The exhibits were top notch: Donaghdee and Dundalk were excellent. I really liked Dun Laoghaire and Kildare always makes me feel nostalgic for the time I spent hanging around there in the 90s. Schneeweiss and the Somme where both interesting. I also enjoyed watching a bit of shunting at Barrack St goods yard and had a nice chat with Metrovik as he ran the excellent Beaghnach End. Paul Isles was very giving of his time on the Accurascale stand (the photographic grey version of Maeḋḃ looks fabulous) as were the guys at the DCDR stand. Loads more: Freemo and T-Trak always catch my eye, a DCC-like controller for DC - the list goes on. Well done SDMRC! 7
exciecoachbuilder Posted yesterday at 21:02 Posted yesterday at 21:02 I went to Blackrock yesterday, its always an enjoyable day, some great stuff there. I was very impressed with CK prints, I picked up some cement wagon bodies, both curtain sides and 'guillotine' door cement wagons. I couldn't resist one of their 30 ton brake vans too, a very impressive model. The "elusive" Park Royals looked really good, as did the 800 class, and I look forward to them being delivered to me. A book, and some other bits and bobs, and yes, my bank card got hammered. A good days shopping was had. Paul........ 1 1

Dempsey Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Very enjoyable weekend and delighted to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone who came up to see Barracks Street on its first outing. Thank you for all the advice, tips and insight. 11
Niles Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Another year over, it felt like the best Blackrock show yet! Thank you to everyone who supported the Táilte Tours (at which my co-conspirator @jhb171achill seemed to be the main attraction) and DCDR stands over the weekend (I was literally swapping jackets over between shifts!), enjoyed putting a few more faces to names from this forum and I even treated myself to another GNR cement van from @leslie10646. As DCDR people, @GSWR 90 and particularly enjoyed watching the little G on Beagnach End. https://www.downrail.co.uk/2025/10/south-dublin-model-railway-2025/ 5

LNERW1 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 22 hours ago, jhb171achill said: These were particular gems; @Metrovik top pic looks familiar! What a show, as the first large exhibition I attended as an exhibitor, was absolutely blown away by how lovely every single other exhibitor was. Thanks so much to everyone, I don't want to list anyone as there was so many and I could never remember them all, but thanks especially for @Jack_Dunboyne from the FREMO group and Sven and Anand from MERG for broadening my modelling horizons. Thanks also to all the lovely people who let me disgrace their layout with The Heretic (no I will not elaborate). Thanks also to all the wonderful people who stopped by and showed interest and offered advice, even if most of it had to be then passed on to @Metrovik (the problem with operating somebody else's layout). Hopefully I didn't botch the explanation too much! And may I commend everyone on the consistently incredible standard of work on show. I could sit and watch every single layout at the show for hours. Although of course I realise my praise doesn't mean much as the majority of people I talked to had no clue who I was, which is fair given being the consistently most annoying regular on a niche forum is not particularly noteworthy. Hopefully all this doesnt come across as self indulgent or narcissistic, I just really wanted to say how welcoming everyone was. 5
