popeye Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 PLASSER TAMPER MACHINE. This is what i have been working on over the past year. it is starting to look like something at last. The motor & bogies are from Hollywood foundry in Australia. Bachmann buffers. It is based on the NIR No5 and dimension are not all accurate and some are judged by eye.
Noel Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Good grief Popeye that is absolutely stunning. And the motor setup looks like a precision performer.
Kirley Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Now that's a challenge. I'm sure you are pleased with the Bull Ant, it's an excellent motor. How did you do the bogie frames? Looking forward to seeing No.5 finished.
popeye Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 The bogie frame are made from plastic, a fiddly job. The motor and gears are a bit noisy but when they get run in a bit they might improve.
murrayec Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Hi popeye Lovely stuff, very neat work, I love the wiring clips... Eoin
John-r Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 That is fantastic workmanship, looking great. A right good challenge .
popeye Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 PLASSER TAMPER No 5 UPDATE A few more pic's of the plasser tamper. I have put on all the cab sides, floors, side grills and cut out 25 windows. Now all the fine details need to be added. Can't wait to get some paint on it.
Noel Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Impressive model engineering. Precise and very neat work.
MOGUL Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Bit of a random question, but where did you get the checker plate plasticard for the cab floor?
JasonB Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Very impressive work, that's going to look class when finished.
popeye Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 thank's for all your comments. The checker plate embossed sheet came from slaters,i think.
richrua Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 How on earth do you work those plastic card angles so well!
popeye Posted April 19, 2017 Author Posted April 19, 2017 Plasticard is just 10 thou, very thin and hard to cut. You need a sharp knife.
Weshty Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 How on earth do you work those plastic card angles so well! My question exactly. Quality scratch building of the first water.
David Holman Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 That is one serious piece of gingerbread. Very intricate, very impressive.
