Yup, it all looks lovely. The signs, the level crossing, the figures. Nice work getting the old style loco lamps working!

any tips on how to add LED lights to a Dcc a or c class ? Do I need a wired chip ?

Rich, delighted to help with DCC wiring on A and C.

What I did when I wired up my A class was

first get the brass detail kit from SSM, which

has the nice little details such as cow catcher

and radiator grills. This is optional, and you will

get away without it.I have used the TCS-T1 decoder

which is 2 function and you can have directional

lights. You will need to drill out the headlights on

both ends of cabs. When you get LEDs you will

also normally need two 1k ohm resistors.

The TCS decoder has a wire loom that's

Is colour coded, and this is hard wired into

the loco. The decoder can be removed from

harness if need.

Another option is to use a Hornby Deltic

chassis which is cut to suit the A class and

already has a 8 pin connector so you can put

in a 8 pin decoder of choice. If you want directional

light there is a common diagram that is used for this.

I can't remember it off hand but I will get

back to you.Check out the very early pages

of my workbench as you will see work on a39

at that time.

Thank you very much. I have a Hornby deltic chassis (dcc) in mine and am pondering a couple of lights. In a couple of months I am going to get another kit and prob the studio scale model details too now that I am feeling more confident so I will try what you suggest.

Excellent smooth running here Eamonn, the loco and the period train with weathered vans and brake really look the business. How one would love a time machine and a good digital camera! why didn't I take more photos in the good old days when engines ruled the rails.

Lovely loco here Eamonn and you have her chipped and ready. The 141/181 for me are the best models produced by/for Mr. Murphy, they really are superb and you never get tired looking at them. If I had more funds I would buy more of these and they run so well and are versatile just like the real thing. I wouldn't have a clue but would guess that these models will fetch higher prices in the future as they become scarce Congrats on another fine addition to your layout Eamonn.

Thanks Tommy, and you are

dead right in that you would

never tire looking at these locos.

Enjoy. These baby GMs are in a class of their own. Nothing before nor since has come close to their quality and visual appeal, not to mention their extraordinarily superb running. They are the pinnacle of MMs wonderful line of locos.

Currently, I am trying to finish off my batch of dapol Esso tankers with the

SSM brass detail. These are a nice starter

For anyone wishing to try a kit with brass

together for the first time, well worth a try.

It's taken me far too long to build these, so the plan is to have them built this week.

I will post up more photos at a later stage.

Good man Eamonn, looking forward to seeing the finished tankers. The SSM detailing finishes them off lovely - I must have a go at the Dapol tankers again as the first few I did.....well lets say I may put them down to experience! Mine are stabled in a siding as they derail constantly when running but I still enjoy having them parked up.

Had the same trouble with mine and it appears to be the crappy wheels that Dapol supply with the kits. I switched mine for Hornby wheels and the problems disappeared.

They definitely need some additional weight. The weight is very easy to add, inside the barrel, during the build. I think I just used some rolled up newspaper in mine.

Yeah dead right. I glued some old nuts and bolts into mine.

A few bits I am doing at the moment.

I am rebuilding the shapeways ballast plough vans and using the brass parts from the SSM plough kit.

183 is being looked at for a spare sound chip that I got, while sound chipped 187 is missing a antenna.

The M class bus is nearing completion with some minor painting to touch up.

God the oil wagons are still not finished and I need to get cracking on them.

I have built a bit of a Fire Station diarama as well,so she needs a small bit more work.

Just finished 4 IFM cement wagons,so I will have a nice rake of ten.

I weathered one wagon a bit,so delighted with them, now to get the

layout going (again) in the attic.

I finished off the short wheel base an post transit (SSM decals).

The ESB transit is by "Model Shop" with a few ladders I added

myself from the young lads broken die-cast fire engines.

Eamonn, what paint did you use on the curtain side cement wagons?
