ttc0169 Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Nice touch adding the numbers to 078 in 085 style. Wonder will the real 078 get them when ever it escapes back into the wild. Thanks Railer- the real 078 has had the additional numbers fitted. Quote
craven1508 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Just amazing that Tara Junction! briliant models!!!!!! buses trains all to a high standard Edited December 25, 2013 by Garfield See rule 9 here: http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/79-Website-Guidelines-Rules Quote
Southern Yard Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) A near miss at Tara junction! The yard pilot nearly fouled the points on to the main running lines and narrowly misses the local branch set and the FO Dublin-Ballina service. An investigation is being carried out by the operations manager of Tara Jcn but it seems initial thoughts are an inexperienced driver was to blame! BosKonay Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Very near miss! that could have been messy Quote
Southern Yard Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Two more: First one showing 085 reversing through the servicing depot and second one has 086 showing the mk4s a pair of heels! [video=youtube_share;LwKqIRNdr-M] [video=youtube_share;mdFQvdXxG5Y] Quote
Aussie Phil Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Loved all three. The sound unit in 085 is brilliant. Quote
ttc0169 Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Evening lads, Some engineering works have taken place at the North junction area of Tara junction today with a Perway possession of the up and down bi-directional lines, One of the former Hornby express points was replaced with the better quality PECO point , After the point was installed it was time to call up the HOBS train first and this was hauled by 7078 078 is seen here slowly hauling the HOBS train from the ballast loading sidings heading for the worksite. 078 overtakes a slow moving and heavy IWT liner which is being hauled by sister loco-077. 078 arrives at the worksite-the driver awaits further instructions from the Perway inspector, Tamper 751 has started work on the opposite line. The HOBS train discharges some ballast while the driver of Tamper 751 awaits more instructions. An engineers eye view of the completed express point-the inspector has instructed the Tamper driver to move back to allow the HOBS train to discharge ballast over the new point. Quote
Broithe Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Great presentation - like Thomas the Tank Engine for grown-ups.. Keep it up. Quote
Sulzer201 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Great pics of the PW work and love the tamper and, the lights and the lookout man Quote

Glenderg Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 This is mighty clever. What's the story with the discharging process? a bit of something laid in place with ballast attached, or is it permanently stuck to the autoballaster? Very impressive sir. R. Quote
Shinkansen Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Excellent 'Permanent way' action going on there ttc. That HOBS train and Tamper are the buisness Top stuff as always. Tom Quote
Hunslet 102 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Great scenes once again Noel, every pic has a story to tell Quote

ttc0169 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 A few photos from the nerve centre of Tara Jctn-the MPD.... 7077 and 7078 were overdue exams so were recalled this evening for attention A couple of shunting moves were needed to free up the running shed roads to allow both locos access to the shed, The fitters gather around the locos....while over on the mainline recently released loco 229 gets a trial run All hands on deck.....!!! Barry-the expert fitter has the task of checking out loco 7078 for water....note the orange paint on the fan housing....this housing came from loco 087... Barry is still hard at it as 229 and a Sulzer 101 pass each other on the mainlines while operating light engine movements...photo taken from the top of the MPD building After 7078 gets sorted out,Barry turns his attention to 7077,both locos are needed back into traffic as they are popular and powerful according to drivers that have worked them While Barry was checking the Water levels on 7078-he manged to sneak a photo of other locos receiving attention at the depot....on the right is 234 which has been passed for service while on the left 210 is shutdown-needing a bit more TLC to get her back in action.... Kirley Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Love the detail in the interior of the Loco Shed Quote
Railer Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Love the detail you put on 078 with it's orange fan casings that it came out of the works with. Did you mod the slate 071s yourself in removing the grab irons yourself, how did you get the finish so smooth with the end result? They look great. Also the large number font on 234 is top notch too, 100% true to the real thing, you have an eye to the finer points. Quote
heirflick Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 i hope you are going to give Barry a pay rise - hes doing a powerful and stressful job! great pics and commentary=D Quote

Thank you Railer, 077 was repainted by myself with the grab rails removed and the area filed and sanded flush with the body-then repainted with the correct shade of yellow, transfers were from the Railtec range. 078 is an original Murphy model grey again with the above modification done, Loco 234 is sound fitted with the transfers coming from the SSM range.... Glenderg Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Whilst i totally approve of the photos, i have a concern over the risk exposure for the chap taking the photo from a height. He may be a friend of barrys. There is no high level railing, nor fall arrest system above the shed, and plastic people could fall to their plastic HSA enquiry at any time. Barry for President! Quote
enniscorthyman Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Noel told me that a H and S team had checked the depot last year and all is well - Barry is doing a great job. The two gray 071s look nice side by side. Quote
