Blaine Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 MIR did a nice 20' flat wagonSome came with a 20' container Pity not as many wagon kits come with bearings these days Quote
Warbonnet Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Parkside still provide bearings thankfully! Quote
Dunluce Castle Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 As do slaters, I'd love to try an MIR kit but wouldn't risk building one of these "collectors" items Quote

StevieB Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 If you Google Maygib, they still seem to be about but quite who makes them now is anyone's guess. Stephen Quote
Blaine Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I'd love to try an MIR kit but wouldn't risk building one of these "collectors" items A good proportion of the range has been covered by other manufacturers. Keep in mind that not everyone collects kits either, only the few and usually you can charge higher prices Quote
Riversuir226 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 As do slaters, I'd love to try an MIR kit but wouldn't risk building one of these "collectors" items Feck the collectors, all mir kits deserve to be built and run . Quote

Dunluce Castle Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Maybe "rare" would have been a better word than "collectors" Do you know how many different wagons were made by MIR Wrenneire? It's a pity they aren't still going. Quote

Riversuir226 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Fertiliser, ammonia tanks, taras both types, barrier wagons, 47,42,20ft container flats, cement bogie, bubble, curtain side and other 4 wheel bagged cement. On the container flats thet done ones with various loads such as beer keg cages. Loco kits 121/141/181/071/201, hunslet . They also had brass sides kits for nir railcars, mk2/3 egv, gennys, restaurants, buffets etc. They also done a huge range of decals and other accessories including a range of paints. Most of the kits with a little extra work created top drawer models and others out of the box created top drawer models. The odd untouched kit comes up for sale but most have been built the whitemetal ones seem to be more common. Quote

burnthebox Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Identical? 5151 has a door in the middle! I'm glad someone else pointed that out, not to mention the two white "boards" one at each end of 5101 ! Quote

WRENNEIRE Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 So Shade of orange aside, any one see any problems with these 4 coaches I think they are grand, I ran a rake of them in the MRSI last Weds and there were no complaints Quote
iarnrod Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 There is a distinct line under the black band on each coach where it looks like orange has been sprayed over the black. It's in the area where the White line would be on IR/IE coaches. Quote

DiveController Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The new Mk 2 coaches MM 5201 Standard I think I notice some duplicate running numbers in there. Weren't 5201 and 5223 Lima running numbers way back when ….? Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Yes But the coaches kept their running numbers throughout their life, so one coach could have had 3 reincarnations, S/Train, IR & IE liveries Quote
Weshty Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Nice pics Wrenner. MIR ceased 5 years ago? Hard to believe it's 5 years. An amazing range of stuff when you think of it . We were blessed with them. Quote
DiveController Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Sure, Dave, I realized that, and they were in IE in the Lima packs before. It's just odd that one wouldn't choose unique numbers for anything produced before, like MM0071 and MM7071 for example Edited February 5, 2015 by DiveController Quote
Railer Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Just happens, there is a good bit of it within the MM range and Lima to Murphy. MM078 and MM7078. 078 was painted in slate grey when the model came out but it was not released to traffic at the time until some months after the model came out. MM8208 (2008 Enterprise livery) MM208 in NIR blue, Lima 208 NIR blue. MM230 in Enterprise and Lima 230 in Enterprise and IE orange. Quote
