Sulzer201 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Lovely work here and a great fleet of bubbles. Quote
rebelred Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Super work Tom,are you gonna get them weathered? Quote
Riversuir226 Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Definetly thinking about dirtying them up a bit but i ll leave it till my weathering skills improve. Thanks for the comments lads , i ve two dirty 141's lined up to haul these so the whole rake will be a class sight when running. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Glounthaune mk 2, a few years back i measured up Glounthaune station building, added to the measurements i got the plans of the former station buildings out of the property section of the examiner from when the buildings were sold a few years back. After a lot of head scratching and over use of the calculator i figured out the various roof angles and more importantly the scale measurements . I constructed the building out of plasticard with wills tiled roof sheets, i ve now started with the detailing so hopefully i can get it complete in the next few weeks. Quote
Kirley Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 A lot of hard work Tom but the results are plain to see. Nothing beats copying from the real thing. Quote
rebelred Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Coming along nicely Tom, you couldn't have picked a more awkward building to model, the angles of the roof is very unusual on that building in Glounthaune Station. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this, keep up the good work Quote
Riversuir226 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks for the comments gents Started work on the other main building, work is a bit slow as i ve lost my photo file of the building but i ll be up in Cork over the weekend so i ll get plenty of replacement photos. Quote
scahalane Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Excellent stuff, really looking forward to this one as Glounthaune (Cobh Junction) was the station I used every day going to school as young lad. Are you going for any particular era as the station's out buildings facing the platform went though a number of changes in the early 90's, also the cast iron water tower survived up till the mid 80's. The plan is too model it in its late noughties guise around the time of the reconstruction/reopening of the Midleton line. The station has gone through major changes over the years, the earliest pic i can find is from the 1880's and i only found out where the original signal cabin( pre 1923 )was located the other day!!! islandbridgejct Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Nice work. Will be interesting to see more. Quote
David Holman Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Love all those different roof lines and levels. Will look forward to seeing how the project develops. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 The new station master surveys his new station building , 8 more windows & doors to cut out . Quote
DiveController Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Don't envy you this one, Tom but suspect I will when it's done:D Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) Roof built (wont look so wavy when attached permanently & addedsupports) & all the windows + doors have been cut out its been a tough build so far but hopefully the worst bits have been done:rolleyes: . Glenderg Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Tom, If i can contribute just this small bit - cut out identical triangles that match the roof profile and "force" the roof into a profile by glueing them underneath. I'll send you down some bangor blue slate sheets next week and you can overlay them on the first fix roof? Valleys and gutters you'll have to tackle on your lonesome though :-) richie. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Many thanks for the kind offer and advice Richie Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Many thanks Eamonn, finished 072 off earlier on & is now ready for the annual weedspray tour. Weedspray headboards are from the Glenderg models range and are pretty impressivein their own right, these complete the list of jobs done to the loco nicely. Quote
rebelred Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Nice job!! Looks the business there Tom! Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Thanks bud, how are the ammonias coming along? Quote

Excellent looking forward to seen the updates , i usually get an hour or so in the night time after the little missys go to bed. The best buy on the workbench is a clock as otherwise the birds wouls be singing outside before id realise that id been at the bench for hours. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) Suppose after two years i might as well finish off my tara wagon rake . At the time i luckily got my mits on 5 mir tara kits & after building them i decided that i wanted more, so i sharpened the pencil and drew out plans of the wagon to aid scratchbuilding a few more. At the time i built one and vowed to build more so here we are NOW is the time to build 2 more. I plan to build two in one week at an hour per night, the first night was spent transferring the measurements onto to plasticard sheet & prepping the buffers and building the bufferbeams. Last night i cut out the main body pieces and built one body plus painted the bufferbeams. Edited February 23, 2015 by Riversuir226 Quote

Noel Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Looks vaguely similar to a GWR castle class with an LMS style tender and princess class domes Quote

Dunluce Castle Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Look forward to seeing how this comes along, I've been having a bash with the C class they did a few weeks ago, i just stuck a jinty chassis under my c class. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Ah yes Maeve but she ll be a mover rather than a static one Quote
