iarnrod Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Absolutely spot on weathering on those wagons. Just as I remember them. Well done on an excellent job. 1
RedRich Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 These wagons and the models are iconic and it takes a huge amountt of knowledge researching as many pics of wagons as possible as they all weather differently. To still have the drive to put the same amount of time and effort into the last one as the first says a lot about Jason. It takes time to reach this level and some of us never will. Rich, 2 1
JasonB Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Fresh to the bench this morning is my 15 Ballast Wagons and 2 Plough Van's. I've started by applying a wash to the hopper. This is to create the build up of dirt and streaking in certain areas. This process will be used on each wagon. I have also removed the loads for a little cosmetic work. 6
JasonB Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Plough Van's were dismantled this afternoon and given a blast of the airbrush. I'll be aiming for a heavily weathered appearance on both of these. 7
JasonB Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 Another little project on the go at the moment are these Cravens, which I picked up second hand back in 2018. The guy I bought them from had already painted the interiors and installed lighting. Over the past couple of evenings, I've carried out some small repair jobs which needed doing, and I've also added some passengers. Once everything is put back together, I'll finish off by applying some light weathering. 13 1
JasonB Posted July 5, 2020 Author Posted July 5, 2020 I hadn't realised how bad a condition the wheels where in, until I had removed them from the coaches. As you can see, they were absolutely caked in residue from glue that had been used by the previous owner. Not good with general running, let alone when you're relying on pickups to light the coaches. Anyway, I've given them a good clean, which should improve future running. 7
JasonB Posted July 11, 2020 Author Posted July 11, 2020 Not some new work, this is more of a coming together of two recently finished projects from the bench. 7 1 3

This is a great improvement. Edited July 13, 2020 by Noel
flange lubricator Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Nice job on the interiors , great to see one with the lights on . Quote 1

JasonB Posted August 22, 2020 Author Posted August 22, 2020 A couple of recently finished tanktainers. Weathering has been kept to a minimum, with some light streaking and rust applied. 9 1 2

burnthebox Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Hello Jasón my man, & having just looked over this tread from Oct 2015 to date, I have to say if I haven’t said this before, you’re expertise in railway modelling has taken the word “ modelling “ to a whole new level, your skills at making models, building models,, shaping these items & of course weathering these models has taking the modelling World to a whole new level, I can live with this if you live in my country..., very well done sir, BTB 3 1
popeye Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Nice weathering, they do look good on the wagons. 1
JasonB Posted August 29, 2020 Author Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) I've spent the last number of weeks working away on this signal box, in between my current projects sitting on the bench. The balcony and steps combo wasn't my cup of tea, so some chopping, sanding and gluing was required. Along with that, I also added lighting and various bits and bobs to the interior. Then, some painting and weathering to finish. Job done. Edited August 29, 2020 by JasonB 9 1
Noel Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Very tasty job. Looks well and rather unique. Like the Irish signage detail. 1
David Holman Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Some of the current ready to plant buildings are very nice indeed, but a project like this shows how one can be made bespoke and much more interesting. 1
JasonB Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Another batch of wagons have joined the ever growing queue awaiting weathering on the bench. First up, are my fourteen IRM 42' flats with BELL containers. And along with them, are my ten Tara's. Thought I'd ease myself in. So I've began by painting the green detailing on the bogies, just to dull things down a little. Expected completion date for both projects, September 2025 6 1
JasonB Posted September 26, 2020 Author Posted September 26, 2020 I've spent the last couple of days faffing about with these little beauties. They'll do the job dotted around a yard. 11 1 5

David Holman Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 What a difference! Really brings out the quality of the mouldings. 1
JasonB Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Evening guys, It's been a while since I updated the thread. The combination of being just too busy, and not really being arsed, has resulted in a very quiet workbench of late. Over the past month or so, I've got back amongst my mound of projects that need sorting, and below, is one of those stop-start weathering jobs which has been dragging on forever. It's nice to finally put these to bed. 8 8
Noel Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Stunning job. Class. Like your own version of the loads too. 1
ttc0169 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Brilliant work Jason, just the right amount of weathering. 1
