Subtlety personified and no small task either. Ever thought of doing a small photographic diorama? Just a piece of well ballasted and weathered track, like a siding with some surrounding weeds and a photographer backscene. Remove the tension locks and then pose a wagon. Suspect there could be more than a few who will struggle to decide whether it is a model or the real thing, me included.

It's something I've been meaning to tackle, David. I have a board here, like you've suggested, but it could do with some tidying up. Fixing a back scene, would be straightforward enough, with very little work involved. Thanks for the positive comment, it's very much appreciated.

Evening guys,

I've just started some work on this Plaxton Bus Eireann single decker.

Rather than just plonking it on the layout as it is, I've decided to try make it look that little more interesting.

So, the plan of action is...

Paint the interior and maybe the wheels. Add a driver and passengers. Cut the doors in half and refit, to appear as if they're open. And finally, I will need to rummage through the spares box and knock up some mirrors.

Job done. The most time consuming part of this little project, was trying to cut the doors without causing any noticeable damage. Fitting them back in place, in an open position was also a pain, but worth it.

The mirrors also turned out ok. Why the model hadn't got any in the first place is anyone's guess.

Adding the passengers and driver has made a big difference. Makes for an interesting scene.

Wheels were also painted and weathered, and given a blast of matt varnish.

Quite happy with how this has turned out.

A couple of recently finished tanktainers. Weathering has been kept to a minimum, with some light streaking and rust applied.

Someone already said it, but I wholeheartedly agree a light weathering like this is a serious upgrade, they photograph much better, the whole toy model look has gone, and photographed with the clunky connectors out of sight these will totally look the part, excel, ent upgrade.
I do not upgrade to kadees on all my stock either, yes it looks better but it gets so tedious.I just use the better upgrades for close ups.

I picked up this 1:76 scale loader about a year back. The colour was horrendous and needed sorting. So I went to work.

Well worth popping a dirty load in that bucket, some Ballast  and PVA glue can dry out making the load look like wet ballast, excellent upgrade.

apologies for poor typing edited to correct

Great job, really brings it to life. Go well with your ballast wagons👍

Horizontal and vertical detailing now added. As always, time is the enemy. But things are beginning to take shape nicely.

Well thought out, sorry the comment is against something earlier, but your approach is not something I have seen previously, and I love innovation
