Class 25 loco's got the nickname of rats as they were all over the network, then 26 & 27 locos (originally used on the Midland and Eastern region before migrating to Scotland), also got the 'rat nick name by some people, hence the Mac Rats when they moved to Scotland. Never heard of the teaspoon/teacup nickname, however there were some variations of names with the various diesel locos. Quote
