IRM A Class Sales Leader Board - Which Ones Are About To Sell Out??

Hi everyone,

With the A Classes about 6/7 weeks away from production completion we have received some requests recently regarding which locos are about to sell out.

So, to help you plan strategically for your A Class purchases, we have drawn up this leader board to demonstrate what locos are about to sell out in the short term, and which ones are likely to be available for longer. As you can see below, A23r is the most endangered species at this moment.

Please note that with all the variations in running numbers with the As that each running number will be small in quantity size overall, certainly smaller than the runs for the recent 121s or say the 141s, so likely difficult to get in the coming years. We will NOT be disclosing final production numbers on each running number except for the limited run of A1, which is 250 models.

Remember, you can place your order now via our website: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive

Cheers!

Fran

Question: how long will it be before we have painted samples of all the liveries. Will it be around release time?

Ps:I must say I'm surprised that supertrain/IR dont top the list and rather black and tan has top 3 of 4 places

Hi @Westcorkrailway,

We've previously shown painted samples last year, this included some body only samples which we sent feedback to China on. What's coming now is the final production run based on this feedback.

Cheers!

Excellent idea publishing a list like this. It protects the quantities while helping people plan and budget. Fair play for coming up with that...

Will you be doing the same when you release your 141's / 181's?

🤣

What?

Surely you have this on repeat in the car.

Interestingly (perhaps), just before I started at Stafford Poly, Wizzard played there, supported by, of all unlikely people, Bob Marley and the Wailers...

Yeah! Lets get back to the topic at hand. Looking at the chart it seems the early diesels are at the bottom, this may have something to do with there being no prototypical wagons to run with them. All said, anything around 50% on pre-order is very good. It reminds me of the Celtic Tiger when people were buying property off the drawings (before the houses/apartments were completed) [getting side tracked again!].

Yes it was interesting to note the CIE black'n'tan livery A classes were top of the list followed by IR livery. Surprised A1 not already sold out as a collectors item. I remember what looked like a gauge 1 static model in the dept of transport years ago in the delivery silver livery.

With pre-orders that high I can't see them hanging around very long at all. Some people will undoubtedly want to wait until things are actually in stock before paying.

This time next year loads of people will be lamenting the fact that they didn't order the locomotive they had their' eyes on when they were first released. Now's your chance.

Yeah and then accuse others of making a profit if they happen to sell one!😂

It,s the marketing model/style being used by IRM , it is whipping up a panic, get in quick or you will miss out.

It's not a marketing style, it's just the real world.

IRM have repeatedly announced that they are increasing the size of subsequent runs to satisfy demand and keep people happy, but how far can you ask them to go, how many hundreds of thousands of Euro can you ask them to risk on a project?

The A Class project must be three or four years since announcement, and the market now is very different to what it was back then.

We, their customers, are constantly harassing them for info on how many units are being produced, how many have sold, how many are available, and it's unfair to then accuse them of marketing malice by simply responding to our requests.

Have my 4lb [four pound] lump hammer on the ready so I can smash my Lima A (or is that C?) class once the IRMs have arrived. All of the shite that was produced pre MM 201s will be consigned to the history books and thrash cans.
