enniscorthyman
Just heard model shop's 071 sound decoder. Have to say the video doesn't do it justice compared to what if sounds like hearing it in person! Absolutely stunning! The 071 sound is the best of all the sound chips recordings that I have heard.088 is the loco that was recorded.

enniscorthyman
what does the "SA" stand for?? The SA ran after the loco number with S used to denote fitted with CAWS(Continous Automatic Warning System). The A denotes fitted with Air Breaks. RedRich
Top answers Eamonn and Snapper. You're more than just pretty faces. I try not to judge anything too harshly until I have them in hand and cash has been exchanged but I like those IR and NIR liveried locos, yet I am sticking to the IE era in the early to later 2000's, so the IR loco is a no go. 201bhoy
I'm sticking to the IE era as well. Orange or IE Freight livery for me (or possibly NIR 112! Anyone know when it went back to NIR?)

Csalem
Lovely looking models. Thought there was something wrong with them though, but then I realised they are far too clean for 071s! Will look fantastic when weathered.

BosKonay
Bah, no competition there lad!! Three 071's per 201 is a healthy ratio! I like my 201's but they are soulless blocks in comparison to the 071 beauty!

I like my 201's but they are soulless blocks in comparison to the 071 beauty! I know, but the 201s are my favourite loco! I still don't know what livery to get I was planning on getting the IE freight livery so as to make it not TOO orange but that IE livery looks absolutely gorgeous! AND, to make things even more difficult, I can get the NIR one too! How many are yous all getting?
Admin
071. Greatest lump of steel to grace the Irish metals. I reckon a full fleet is required!

snapper
How many are yous all getting? At the moment I am planing on getting 2, 082 in freight and 085 in IE weathered. Possibly a third from the last batch depending on finances. Wish I could afford them all but such is life.
201bhoy
Yeah I think I'll have ti settle for two And thanks for the info Gordon
connollystn
I'll be buying at least six, most of them in the IÉ Black & Silver freight livery. Can't wait 'til pictures of that version are posted on the MM website.
Railer
I have 082 and 112 pre-ordered a while now. I will then get 077 and 080 for one of each livery. I may re-number 077 as 084 and heavily weather it up as 084 was the last 071 to run in IE orange up until a month or two ago.
heirflick
if someone here takes the mother-in-law off my hands i could afford the lot!!! i think having the lima 201's for so long, the novelty of the new ones has worn off!...thats not taking from them, they are a superbly detailed machine and all credit to paddy murphy.....but as ye say the 071 are the bogs wobbly bits! i hope we all get as excited when the 121's (the little beauts!) are announced:)
skinner75
Have to say I'll be even more excited when the 121's are announced & we get the pre-production shots - that's not to say I don't absolutely love the 071!

connollystn
Yep! The 121s are lovely locomotives but the 071s are my favourite. I'm not a fan of the 201s so I didn't get any so I've been patiently waiting for the 071s to come along. Can't wait to get my hands on them. Also, I've noticed that there's a yellow band around the top of the Silver and Black liveried 071s, is that just a stripe or a strip of metal which has some function?
