It was March 2011 before the next release from Murphy Models hit the shelves

5 Mk 2 coaches, but more importantly we were getting true models of Irish EGV's & Restaurants unlike the previously issued Mk 3 Restaurant

Again, some of my favorite coaches

Lordy but I do love those MM 201s so I do.....

Correction. All those Mk IIs look amazing. The problem was so much good stuff brought out so closely, it didn't give us time to appreciate how DAMN good it all really is.

Need to sit down now.;)

220 is the best of the 201 releases so far, definetly the pride of my little 201 fleet;)

Me too Tom. It was always my favourite prototype loco from the class, I just love that livery on the models also. I think young Vincent would echo our sentiments.

Rich,

The Intercities do it for me. That multiple shade of green, grey and silver was a divil to paint. So to get a new model design, central can, flywheel, dcc, louspekare, uberfine detailing and scalpel fine paint job all rolled up for less than 200 squid? Heaven.

Even better when they had proper munster river names on them like River Suir and Anner, thanks to your decal packs:cheers:

Rich,

Yes I do! Favourite loco of the fleet by far!

It is an interesting concept, favourite loco, but what makes a particular member of a class stand out?

Some people can have a personal attachment to a certain loco for a number of reasons. 220 was the first of the class that I saw up close and I had a good walk around it. I also had a cab pass and travelled to Heuston in her. The driver let her stretch her legs in the Curragh and it is a completely different experience having a view from inside the cab then it is to sitting in a coach. I'll never forget it and that's why I have a fondness for her.

Shucks! Much appreciated.

Any emoticon there for taking a humble bow? :)

From a modeller's perspective - not that modellers need much excuse anyhow - 220 out of all the releases covers the widest possible time period, with it's unplated steps and being one of the last into 'Intercity' livery. It also runs (ran?) without a silencer for a fair while making a very pleasant thunder....

Great points from Rich and Rob. It was the first "loco" I'd travelled behind, after the 80s and the Castle Class. I travelled behind it and the mk2s to Dublin on a Sunday enterprise service, and then much later on I travelled behind it and the mk3s to Galway. It was also quite a frequent runner up to Adelaide yard with the Derry-Waterford timber, so I saw quite a bit of it.

I regularally saw her over the years and she always seemed to be one that stood out in terms of sound. When she was announced by P Murphy she was top of my list to get, bought 2 in the end. All my 201's are Munster/ leinster river names just waiting on 230 to complete my fleet.

201,202,204,205,209,212,215,220,223,226 and please please:praying: Mr Murphy may i have River Bandon

Of the 201 class I have 4 favourites all for different reasons. 220 and 227 are may top two then 223 and 207. My River Blackwater is the pride of my 201s. I plan on getting another 220 to turn into 227, another for 223 and when 230 is released, one to become 207 maybe with the yellow face.

Feb of 2012 gave us another 2 x 201's

Rumour has it that PMurphy looked for an NIR and Original Enterprise issue but that the 2 Orange one were shipped instead

I will clear this up in the next couple of weeks hopefully

However 504 of each hit our shores.

I must admit I’m feeling sad at the thought of this thread coming to an end. Many thanks Dave for keeping this going, I’m sure it got a bit tedious at times setting up another picture shoot but well worth it for us.

Hi wrenneire , always looked forward to what the next photos and comments were going to be , as I missed a lot of the first murphy models first time around .thoughtly enjoyed this thread, invaluable to collectors and hobbyists. Thank you.

Kiaran

Worth it for me too, loved every minute of it

Opening some of the box's for the first time though was tough

Have to see what we can follow up with

Any ideas?

That’s easy, Hornby, SSM, MTK, Q Kits, Worsley Works, Model Irish Railways, Provincial Wagons, in fact just look in your ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of Irish related items and the answer is in front of you. You could always ask for pictures of made up kits from members rather than just showing unmade kits.

Thanks again.
