DiveController Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Great looking NIR stock. Love the variety of rolling stock on Kirley junction Quote
John-r Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 This is another layout you just cannot wait to see the next updates, the class 70 & class 80 Are just outstanding, that livery really does stand out. Very nice. They have just also made My wish list. Quote
Kirley Posted September 10, 2016 Author Posted September 10, 2016 Arrow Railcar stops at Clonmel Station. Time to start preparing for the beet season....back in the day. Quote
JasonB Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Absolutely fantastic, love the Arrow railcar at the station. Quote
ttc0169 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 The Arrow looks really at home on the layout Kieran-as for the beet train it's fantastic. Quote
rebelred Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Where's the 'love it' button for here 😉 Quote
Kirley Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 At last I've started to finish off the layout starting with weathering the track. My two bottles of sleeper grime ran out very quickly with still lots to do so that ended the spraying until more supplies arrive. The previous pictures shows some parts of the track that has been sprayed. More trees for Kirley Junction. All from a box of Seafoam. Still to have the foliage added. Telegraph Poles are also required, using Ratio & Dapol kits. Painting the insulator pots required magnifiers and a lot of patience. The Freight Yard has always been full of Containers and Wagons. [/img] I cleared it in preparation for spraying the track and found the empty space reminded me of what has happening to Freight Yards over the Country, see what you think. Perhaps less is more? Quote
popeye Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 The trees look good as they are. Where do you get them? Telegraph poles look great but get in your way when trying to do anything near the track. Quote
richrua Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I like the yard. It looks huge. ! The beet train is impressive too Quote
BosKonay Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 WOW!! Clonmel is looking absolutely stunning - and that yard - empty!!!! It really goes to show that we shouldn't use our layouts as fiddle yards Storing 'off scene' and allowing for that gleaming lines, damp day emptiness, is probably more what irish railways are about Inspirational work Kirley! Do you plan to add foliage to the seafoam? I've a box I keep meaning to get started on, it's great looking stuff! Quote
Kirley Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 The trees look good as they are.Where do you get them? Telegraph poles look great but get in your way when trying to do anything near the track. I got that box from International Models but they seem to have disappeared from the Web which is a pity as they did great backdrops. If you Google Seafoam you will get plenty of options and I came across this video which may be of use. I'm aware of the danger of the poles and accept I will 'loose' some of them as I have done with trees in the past. Quote
Kirley Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 Do you plan to add foliage to the seafoam? I've a box I keep meaning to get started on, it's great looking stuff! Yes Stephen, adding foliage is next on the list. I've posted a link on an easy way to do it in the post above, It's a few hours work that will make a fantastic to any layout. Quote
Broithe Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I got that box from International Models but they seem to have disappeared from the Web which is a pity as they did great backdrops. These people seem to do similar backscenes. http://www.art-printers.com/ Quote
Kirley Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 Seafoam with foliage added. There is over 40 'trees' plus bushes from the one box. Quote
The Derry Road Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Totally agree with Kirley this method provides a good amount of trees and shrubs and is very effective. I used this material on my own layout. It's cheap too TDR Quote
Kirley Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Some Container action on Kirley Junction. Quote
JasonB Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Pure class,and the filth i love it:tumbsup: Quote
DiveController Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Jayzus, look at the state of 081! Modern containers are a new direction for you, Kieran and looking very well too! Quote
Kirley Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Jayzus, Modern containers are a new direction for you, Kieran and looking very well too! The pocket wagons first appeared Kevin in 2013, see entry #309. It seems a long time ago now. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/524-Kirley-junction/page31 Quote
Kirley Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Upgrading Kirley Junction continues. I've added a siding leading to the old engine shed. I'm going to try a Seep point motor for the first time. Quote
Kirley Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Ballasted the track and did some ground cover. Started placing the Telegraph Poles, hope I have got the spacing between them right. Adding more trees is next on the list. Quote
BosKonay Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Looking fantastic ! A great addition! Quote
Kirley Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 Kirley Junction layout refurbishment continues. This phase includes ground coverage, adding/replacing bushes and trees. If you had seen my previous posts would would have seen the number of new trees I made but they all disappeared, I would have needed 3 times as many to complete all the areas I wanted. Only noticing the guttering on the front of the Station has come loose, yet another job to be added to the list. [note to Glenderg -use stronger glue please] Quote
Irishrailwayman Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Looking good - I like the trees, you can never have enough of them. Quote
The Derry Road Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Looking good Kieran, keep it going, looking forward to your visit tomorrow TDR Quote
Glenderg Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Only noticing the guttering on the front of the Station has come loose, yet another job to be added to the list.[note to Glenderg -use stronger glue please] Duly noted! You might fix the finial too whlie your at it!. Layout looks superb, as always. R. Quote
Noel Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Kieran, its one of those superb layouts when your not entirely sure if your looking at a photograph of the real world or a photo of a layout. Superb vegetation and back scenes too. Quote
Kirley Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 Some greenery added to the Freight Yard. Quote
richrua Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I really like that. Spacious . Great track weathering too. Quote
scahalane Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Great shot, give that yellow van a belt with the weathering stick and the scene will almost look real. Quote
