I see that three of my wagons are on eBay at present, having come down from their stratospheric original price.

The flat with the Guinness containers is close to the price I last charged for them - the flats are sold out, plenty of Guinness though.

The other two strike me as very dear - the open was about £11 when I sold them, the furniture container was under £15.

Caveat emptor!

B&T baby GMs €99 one week with only 2 bids, but €227 a week later with 36 bids albeit with a sound ship! Not to mention another B&T for €160 and €175 for an orange 181 a week earlier. Strangely fluctuating market forces! IE/IR and ST liveries seem to be commanding higher prices these past few months than B&T.

Timing is everything, I suppose. The second bid was mine and a lovely little runner she is too

It's been on there and probably will be for a while. It's from the set in an American box

I'd hazard a guess new MM 141/181s may become readily available on eBay at much lower prices as soon as the MM 121 hits retailers shelves this autumn.

Been watching this seller for a few weeks now

2 guys bid over €200 for this loco

Must revise my pricing!

He also got €195 for a 181 and €145 for a 177

Still good interest in these baby's

The two bidders had very low feedback (less that 100) so maybe he's just lucky that every time he posts something sellers like this turn up ?

I know I've never been that lucky :)

An interesting item for a specialist collector who most likely might never wish to build it. How far the hobby has come from white metal, to brass, resin and finally onto high quality injection moulded plastic.

Thanks Ciarang, thanks for the heads up I am watching this one, does anyone know what the are like to build? If I do win it, I might have to have it in the early as delivered livery.

A lot easier to buy a Murphys one and go with that. Time has passed these kits by

Thank Blaine, to be honest I am looking more for class A, B and C Diesel locos in the green and silver livery period. does anyone know if these are on Murphy's model hit list?

Hi Colin. They are not on Murphy Models current nor future plans list, but right now they are available in RTR or Kit form from SilverFox models (see below). I recommend using a quality centre drive AWD/AWP chassis instead of the recommended Hornby/Lima toy chassis. And . . . I strongly hope/suspect a high quality RTR fine scale model of the A class may be available from another vendor within the next few years. :) Noel

SF C class (original 1950s 201)

They are vastly better performing models when mounted on a centre drive chassis (loads of useful and informative threads on forum about chassis options for these).

Colin,

There's been much discussion on this forum about Silverfox products, which can end up getting quite heated.

Simply put, if you want a model who's cabs look like they've been belted with a swallow tail shovel, and painted in a shade of orange that was specified by Willy Wonka' oompa loompas, rather than CIE, go for it. If you just want to play trains of an evening they'll suit fine.

If you're of the purist persuasion, much work has to be done and I'd recommend the studio scale sulzer b101 kit over SF as it captures the shape.

As far as MM is concerned and metrovicks, until you hear a firm statement from him, ruling in or out, I wouldn't assume anything.

Thanks Richie,

I think I will wait until a proper kit or model is available, I have nothing against silver fox produces, but I would prefer to buy something that fits in with the better detail models available today.

I am sure I have seen a 3D print of these 3 loco bodies somewhere, but I don't think it was on shapeways.

Do we have a firm statement from IRM ruling them in or out yet?!!!

A R-T-R "A" and "C" at the very least, along with a good kit or RTR fertiliser and cattle wagon would go a huge, huge way in the hobby.

We're seeing the modern era, tipped era, supertrsin era and black'n'tan era very impressively covered now. A good set of green'n'silver and steam eras would give some great choices.

We are about to get a RTR GSWR / GSR / CIE J15. This is the single most essential loco of all of the steam era, along with Des' excellent SSM J15 kit.

A Midland 6-wheeler and a decent GSWR or MGWR six-wheel passenger brake would conclude the basics.
