Robert Shrives
Deed done 3 in varying livery inc the rail tour yellow panel. Yes class 80 but guess the easier win will be the original livery Enterprise next time the Mk 2s are run. Having retired from the remains of Crosscountry trains in August I was quite amazed by a collection by my former colleagues - a 335 euro IRM card - they knew me too well it seems! could well be an avenue to spend .. Thanks again gang. Robert 3

Signal Post
Perhaps @BosKonay might be able to clear up a bit of confusion in my mind regarding pre-orders using the account login (i.e. where loyalty points are awarded).... I have a pre-order in for H-Vans and I wish to order some Hunslets, from what I have read above it appears that if I order the Hunslets (via the account) it would appear that the H-Van order gets cancelled? This seems strange to say the least or am I reading it wrong? Any clarification would be much appreciated.

If you order a Hunslet and H vans, the order will probably ensure the H vans sell out before you get them. The general guidance is DONT mix preorders with other ranges or with in stock items. So if you want H Vans, place an order for H Vans, if you want a Hunslet too, place a second order for the loco. Hope that helps!
James Regan
While we are on the subject of pre-orders, and don’t get offended, it appears pre-ordering multiple items is a little cumbersome. For example, if I pre-order one Hunslet, I have to add it to cart, the cart opens and then I cant go back to the Hunslet page to order a second one without going to the main menu and again selecting Locomotives, Pre-Order etc. If instead I click on continue shopping it takes me to the whole range and not just Hunslets. It would be great if you could go back to the page with the range you are selecting from so you can easily select multiple items. I had the same issue with the Park Royals. It seems to work more efficiently for items in stock such as the Bullieds. Ideally you could check multiple items and just click pre-order for the bunch but if that functionality isnt available and others such as rails of sheffield dont have it, keeping the page you are ordering from available would be good enough. Why would anyone get offended? Check how preorders work here https://www.accurascale.com/collections/nir-101-dl-class-hunslet I assume that's what you mean, in that you can click preorder for multiple items on the collection page and it's all seamless? If so it's on the todo list for the IRM website (you can also shop on the acc website and we'll be listing all IRM items there too as we move forward, with shipping globally too)
Signal Post
Thanks @BosKonay for the very quick response, so just to clarify when I look at my account (logged in) it shows recent order (for H-Vans) order number IRM-xxxx(numbers not shown here for obvious reasons), if I now go to the shop and order Hunslets, they will show in my cart and then I place the order, does my "recent orders" now show IRM-xxxx (the H vans) and IRM-yyyy (the Hunslets) or do the Hunslets get added to the IRM-xxxx (ie an order with H-vans and Hunslets). I suppose what I am asking (in a roundabout way) is if I wish to order items from two different lines tonight then if I place the items from one line in the cart and submit it, then go to a second line, add them to cart and submit the order, does this generate two separate (ie not mixed) orders? Every time you checkout, you get a new order, and a new order number .Your recent orders when logged in will show just the last one, and you click the 'see all orders' button there to see the complete list of what you've ordered. All lines in a cart are what you are checking out, so add all the items from the same range you want, then click the checkout button and confirm, and it will create an order for those items. Then your cart will be empty, and add the next lot, etc - hope that 's clear!?

Right click on the pre-order button, and choose to open in a new tab. If using a touchscreen device, tap and hold instead of just tapping, and choose to open in a new tab. You can easily toggle between tabs. Your device will remember what's in the basket, so you can close the basket tab and repeat the process for the next one.

The Enterprise is a great train with a rich history, and now I will have something to head my Mark IIs, below. I do love the uniqueness of the maroon and hope some maroon coaches may be in the future. I’ll try to order one of each. A bit off topic but where does that display come from please? I'll be ordering those two and probably exercise a little bit of Rule 1 to justify the purchase 102 with the yellow panels. Duly ordered those three just now. Not 100% sure I'll hold on to the 102 with yellow panels but I'd prefer to have it and not need it than "need" it and not have it. I'd advise anyone even half thinking about getting any of these to place a pre-order. People are already kicking themselves over not ordering more Hattons' Genesis and these will be rarer and better. It will be easy to sell on a unit should one decide it's surplus to requirements.

The amusing thing was that IRM let slip a video about 48 hours before the official announcement, showing the working roof fan, plus a link to a half-completed webpage about the Hunslet. It was all deleted after about 15 minutes, but if you were lucky enough to spot it, you'd definitely have known!

gibbo675 Posted Sunday at 12:07 Share Posted Sunday at 12:07 On 26/10/2024 at 11:30 AM, Warbonnet said: For Hunslet, the answer was to sub-contract out the manufacturing work, so having designed the superstructure and bogies, fabrication of the superstructure, along with the final assembly, testing and painting were contracted out to British Rail Engineering Limited at their Doncaster site. Traction was trusted to English Electric/AEI Traction, who designed the English Electric 8CSVT Mk II design prime mover for the project, which essentially was an updated version of the Class 20's prime mover, fitted with an additional intercooler. Linked to a Bo-Bo bogie arrangement, this unit provided 1,350 hp (1,010 kW), of which 350hp was required for the Mk2’s heating system! Completed on schedule, 101 Eagle was handed over to NIR on May 8, 1970, with 102 Falcon following on May 22 and 103 Merlin on June 8 and all three locomotives (on temporary bogies) were subsequently shipped to Belfast on the Ferry from Preston (probably on the MV Ionic Ferry) and on arrival were moved to Queens Road for the fitting of the 5’ 3" gauge wheelsets. Hi Folks, I find this part of the introductory post interesting as I do know that Brush Traction tested diesel locomotives on re-gauged wheelsets on the Great Central Main Line in England prior to shipping. I think the locomotives were 3' gauge for East African Railways and were mechanically and electrically similar to the BR class 31 although styling and gauge were quite different. Does anyone know if the locomotives were tested on BR before despatch to Preston and also were the locomotives moved between Doncaster and Preston by rail ? Gibbo. I don't recall any vehicles being trialled after a stint in the wheel lathe shop. The wheel lathe shop was like a production line, and I can't imagine every vehicle having to be sent out on trial? Maybe someone here knows better?

They got the first blue livery c 1979 with red arc which was refreshed with the red chevron about 1988 but Merlin was withdrawn in 1989. Falcon got a darker blue (yellow ends) as the longest survivor in 1996 before it withdrawal from service in 1998.
